Job Description:
At Caterpillar’s East Peoria, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble Track-Type Tractors. In this role as a Manufacturing Engineer, you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will be primarily responsible for overseeing support for Track-Type Tractor components. As a member of the Track-Type Tractor team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
This position requires experience and expertise in specific fields of manufacturing such as understanding of product design to combine with process expertise to provide for improved manufacturability of parts and major components.
Designs, develops and implements the integration of manufacturing systems including SAP, MES, MESA, Team Center, Sharepoint, VPP, VPPA.
Works with cross functional team on routings and processing of components and workstations.
Develops Standard Work for welding, machining and/or assembly processes
Leads continuous improvement projects for safety, quality, velocity and cost for assigned value streams
Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost in performing assigned duties.
Understanding of GD&T, prints and CMM Reports for assigned component parts
What you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or manufacturing-related discipline OR 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
OR
- Associate’s degree and 5 years’ experience in machining, welding and/or assembly manufacturing
Top Candidates will also have:
Analytical ability as well as excellent oral and written communications skills and deep knowledge of machining, welding or assembly.
Experience utilizing manufacturing engineering tools/documents: PFMEA, SFMEA, Standard Work, Safe Job Procedure, Control Plan
Experience with MES/MESA, VPP, Team Center, Creo
Experience with print reading, GD&T and CMM Reports
Experience writing standard work procedures
Experience with SAP
Experience with shop floor support
Excellent oral and written communication

The primary location for this position is East Peoria, IL
Domestic relocation assistance is not available
This position may require 5% travel
