We are looking for a talented Senior Communications Specialist to join our Resource Industries (RI) Sales, Services and Technology division to provide communications leadership and bring that purpose to life in direct partnership with our global team, customers and dealers.

The Resource Industries Sales, Services and Technology (RISST) division is one of the most exciting, global and customer-focused organizations across Caterpillar. We are responsible for the go-to-market strategy for surface and underground mining; and we are focused on delivering growth and the ultimate customer experience through advanced technologies including automation and electrification, integrated site solutions and more!

In this role, you will work closely with the RI Electrification leadership team, the RI communications team and overall RI leadership to develop and manage high-visibility content and information for Caterpillar, Customers and Dealers. You will partner closely with key stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure consistent, aligned messaging and deliverables are created.

What you will do:

  • Own internal and external strategic communication messaging and planning for the RI electrification and sustainability program including employee articles, press releases, social media, executive presentations, speeches and more.

  • Ensure information management strategy is upheld to promote and protect the RI electrification and sustainability messaging.

  • Lead global communications and change management processes for Caterpillar’s first-ever Early Learner electrification program.

  • Lead agenda development and governance for the RI electrification program for senior leadership across RI and partner segments.

  • Lead large-scale event planning and management for employees, customers and dealers.

  • Provide strategic communications consultation for two vice presidents (VP) across RI including the VP of electrification and VP and general manager of technology and global sales support with a focus on autonomy and automation technologies.

  • Be an integral, and collaborative team member on the highly engaged division and segment communications teams where you will create and share content and key messaging with target and broad audiences.

What Skills you will have:

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including being detail-oriented and organized. Ability to communicate in a variety of mediums both traditional (e.g., writing, presentations, etc.) & contemporary (e.g., visuals, video, etc.)

  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. Ability to effectively coach and counsel fellow employees and divisional leaders on how to form and convey compelling narratives through a variety of mediums (e.g., presentation development, story development, etc.). Ability to use emotional intelligence to impact decisions and initiatives.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change; ability to adapt to a changing environment and be comfortable with change. Ability to maintain confidentiality, build trust and collaborate at all levels of the organization working toward common goals.

  • Effectiveness Measurement: Knowledge of effective measurement techniques and ability to measure the quality and quantity of work effort for the purpose of improvement.

  • Initiative: Being proactive and committing to action on self-identified job responsibilities and challenges; ability to seek out work and the drive to accomplish goals.

Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or equivalent experience.

Additional Information:

The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL.
