Job Summary:

At Caterpillar’s East Peoria, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble Track Type Tractors. In this role as a Senior Engineering Project Team Leader, you will report to the Engineering Manager and will be primarily responsible for managing complex projects that involve multiple functions and organizations. You will be the collaboration leader between design engineering and product test and development teams across the organization. You will ensure a successful transition of the design changes to downstream users and is the primary contact for many of our internal and external partners for anything model related. As a member of the D9 Product Engineering team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:

  • Project management of New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and engineering projects

  • Product development execution

  • Ownership of the machine (L6) requirements.

  • Oversight of engineering quality

  • Manage risk and tradeoffs in product development.

  • Execute Lean New Product Introduction programs (NPI)

  • Ensure successful collaboration and eventual handoff of engineering changes to downstream partners including manufacturing, commercial, and product support teams.

  • Oversight and management of the program timeline using project management tools and overall project budget

  • Coaching and mentorship of team members

Product Design and Development : Knowledge of Large Track Type Tractor or similar heavy equipment product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

Level Expert:

• Leads in designing and implementing new production and distribution methods.

• Advocates the development of new technologies and tools for product design and development.

• Leads cross-functional teams assembled for the purpose of product design and development.

• Develops organizational best practices for the management of product design and development.

• Predicts future trends of product design and development.

The primary location for this position is East Peoria, IL
