BAE Systems Principal Product Design Engineer in Endicott, New York
Job Description
We want your talent to support activities for complex avionics electronics systems in our growing avionics business areas. Controls and Avionics Solutions provides flight and mission- critical products to more than 170 commercial and military customers around the world.
CAS products include fly-by-wire flight controls, pilot controls (inceptor systems), full authority digital engine controls (FADEC), power management systems, flight deck systems, cabin management systems, weapon controls, autonomous flight systems, and mission systems for the world's most prominent commercial and military aircraft manufacturers. Assist in the development of a complex design
Summarize analytical results, present as appropriate.
Interface with internal operations, other engineering disciplines, and suppliers
Resolve complex design challenges and establish a finalized design approach
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplinewith8 years related experience.
Must have keen interest in solving highly complex design challenges with battery cell packaging.
Experience in resolving Thermal Runaway, Cell Venting, Charging/Discharging Thermal Impacst, ect.
Knowledge of vendor capabilities that have innovative techniques within the field of resolving battery cell technical challenges.
Knowledge in electronics packaging for high voltage/high power designs.
Understanding of Thermal/Structural analysis and design impacts.
Understanding of lightweight materials (i.e composites) and manufacturing processes.
Requires excellent communication skills. Support schedule, budget, and technical discussions with manufacturers, customers, engineers, and all levels of management.
Ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities, and thrive in a fast paced, schedule driven environment.
Establish and maintain eective relationships with stakeholders across the functions, from suppliers to BAE manufacturing, to achieve the optimal design and manufacture of the product.
Exhibit sound interpersonal skills when interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws.
Ability to take ownership of Design-To-Cost (DTC) objectives in order to optimize overall final price targets
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s Degree in MechanicalEngineering and 8 years of related experience.
Experience with Battery Cell Packaging
Experience with High Voltage/High Power Electronics Packaging
Understanding of DO-311 Certifications
Knowledge of particular vendors within battery cell packaging.
Knowledge of 3D CAD software tools.
Understanding of Thermal/Structural Analysis
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $102200 - $173700
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
