Quality Control Technician - Erlanger, KY
This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
MAIN FUNCTION:
QC technician responsible for quality analysis of raw materials, finished products, expired materials, and Contract Manufactured items. This technician will also offer support to Production in making quality decisions, investigating non-conforming product, detailing Rejections/Deviations/Warehouse Dispositions, and maintaining Quality Control Lab supplies and cleanliness. This position reports to the QC Manager.
Second shift (2:00PM to 10:30PM) with opportunity to move to first shift.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:
Operate and understand standard QC laboratory equipment.
Complete work on-time, accurately, and with Quality and Food Safety in mind.
Complete individual and group departmental/QC related projects.
Manage daily laboratory activities, including, but not limited to Production, Sample, and R&D samples, as well as Raw Materials.
Learn and utilize QC procedures and relevant Process Instructions.
Learn and utilize basic raw material and finished flavor characteristics when making organoleptic evaluations.
Follow basic GLP, GMP, and Safety standards.
Perform QC equipment checks and calibrations.
Maintain proper storage and organization of QC product retains.
Manage laboratory responsibilities in unsupervised situations including overtime/weekend situations on first, second, or third shifts.
Initiate and inform pertinent parties of all material rejections and deviations. Provide accurate and complete information and documentation to allow for proper root cause and corrective action follow-up.
Communicate all outstanding quality issues with the entire QC team.
Maintain and update specific product testing procedures and individual lot data in the AS400.
Evaluate products using taste, smell, and sight.
Requirements:
Two (2) year associates degree in a science related field (i.e., Food Science, Chemistry, Biology) or Preferred four (4) year science degree in related field (i.e., Food Science, Chemistry, Biology)
Food industry experience preferred, not required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Computer skills; Word, Excel, Outlook.
Knowledge of laboratory procedures.
Focus on Food Safety and Customer/Consumer needs in all aspects of work.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining Quality requirements.
Encourages Trust between Operations and Quality.
