The Surgical Services job family provides care and support during surgical procedures, from pre-operative preparation to post-operative recovery. This job family ensures the safe, effective and efficient delivery of surgical care, and that surgical procedures are performed with precision and adherence to safety standards.
The Surgical Technician and Sterile Processor will assist in the operating room during surgery on Wednesdays at Denali Biomedical in Fairbanks, AK. In addition, this person will be responsible for sterilizing the equipment, which may require additional hours on Thursdays. This is a part-time opportunity as this person will be working every Wednesday as well as Thursdays as needed.
Responsibilities
Prepares and organizes the operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies necessary for surgical procedures
Re-stocks supplies, cleaning and janitorial supplies as needed.
Assists with cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation according to ANSI, AAMI, and APIC standards.
Assists the surgical team with patient positioning.
Assists with transporting patients via wheelchair from the facility.
Assists with cleaning and disinfecting the operating room between surgeries, as well as terminally cleaning at the end of the day.
Removes trash from the facility and disposes safely.
Assists with laundry tasks, to include: washing, drying, and folding clothing.
Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.
Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
Serves and protects the physician and practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualifications
1-3 years of work experience, preferred
Previous medical experience, preferred
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred
Previous experience as a surgical technician or sterile processor, preferred
Certification in surgical technology, preferred
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Available on Wednesdays to assist with surgeries as well as Thursdays to sterilize equipment, as needed
