The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.

What You ll Do:

  • Take ownership of projects right away; invent solutions to technical problems and lead the development team to transform them into reality.

  • Leverage your knowledge and experience to mentor other engineers on best practices for software design, development, and testing.

  • Participate and lead a solutions-driven software development processes.

  • Communicate ideas with development teams and customers.

  • Interface with designers, researchers and military personnel to understand requirements.

  • Identify, integrate, and evaluate optimal architectural solutions to meet development objectives.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Your Road Map:

  • 1 to 3 Months - Learning the problem space and becoming familiar with the code base, incrementally increasing development contribution.

  • 3 to 6 Months - Solving technical problems throughout the application and delivering production code.

  • 6 to 12 Months - Leading your respective team on architectural and problem solution decisions.

On-Site Work Environment: This position may be performed working primarily remotely. Travel/commute to various company and/or customer locations at time when not "home based" may be required.

Working Conditions:

  • Optional remote or in office work environment.

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Experience with full stack, mobile application development.

  • Experience with object-oriented languages, preferably Java and Kotlin.

  • Experience with TDD and test automation.

  • Experience with configuration management systems and team-based development practices such as Git branching, merging, and code reviews.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field.

  • Fullstack Android Development: Designing, developing, and maintaining both the front-end (user interface) and back-end (service-side) components of Android applications.

  • Backend Development: Designing, building, and optimizing server-side components of applications, databases and APIs.

  • Software Architect: Experience architecting mobile applications for distributed and offline-to-online environments.

  • Network Protocol: Experience with network communication protocols, specifically multicast.

  • AI Experience: Creating and implementing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in solutions and applications.

  • Cybersecurity: Assessing, mitigating, and securing applications against cyber threats.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $137500 - $173500

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
