BAE Systems Senior Director, Total Rewards - Compensation - Hybrid in Falls Church, Virginia

Job Description

The Senior Director, Compensation is responsible for leading the strategy, design, and execution of BAE Systems Inc. s compensation programs, including executive compensation, broad-based pay structures, and global mobility. This role ensures that compensation programs align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices while supporting the attraction, retention and rewarding of top talent. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in defense industry compensation structures, executive pay and mobility programs. Reporting to the Vice President, Total Rewards, the role leads a team of compensation and global mobility professionals and is a member of the Total Rewards Leadership Team. The role will be based in Falls Church, VA and work a hybrid schedule because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite in Falls Church, VA and remotely.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage compensation programs, including base salary, short-term incentives and recognition, ensuring alignment with strategic goals of the company and driving a high-performance culture by rewarding and attracting top talent. This includes identifying and evaluating external market changes and internal trends to inform strategic designs.

  • Partner with BAE Systems plc to design and deliver long-term compensation programs that support the Inc. businesses and ensure compliance with the Special Security Agreement.

  • Partner with the BAE Systems Inc. Compensation Committee, preparing materials, analyses, and recommendations to support decision-making, leveraging compelling material and influencing outcomes as a subject matter expert.

  • Provide thought leadership to refine job architecture, career frameworks, market pricing strategies and pay practices that support workforce planning and talent development.

  • Foster strong relationships and build stakeholder support for solutions and garner agreement across the sectors and from senior leadership.

  • Collaborate with external advisors, finance and legal teams to ensure competitive, affordable and compliant compensations programs.

  • Oversee policies and programs that support a globally mobile workforce and domestic temporary assignments.

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and contractual obligations for mobile employees.

  • Partner with HR teams to implement mobility programs that support talent deployment and business expansion.

  • Lead annual compensation planning processes, including merit increases, promotions, and incentive awards with effective communications.#LI-JD1

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience, OR MS Degree and 10 years of experience, OR PhD and 8 years of experience, OR 16 years with a High school Diploma.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. BAE Systems, Inc. will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience in a Total Rewards leadership role, with expertise in executive compensation, broad-based compensation and global mobility.

  • Previous experience working in the defense, aerospace, or government contracting industries.

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with proven experience working with senior leadership, Compensation Committees and external advisors.

  • Analytical mindset with experience in financial modeling, job evaluation methodologies, and market pricing tools.

  • Business and financial acumen, innovative, a change agent who works collaboratively with strategic influence to drive decision-making across a matrixed environment.

  • Ability to develop and present senior level leaders with data-driven solutions that will effectively advance business strategies and drive change throughout their organizations.

  • Project management and prioritization skills with proven attention to detail.

  • Analytical skills to draw appropriate conclusions from data, anticipating second and third order of effects when making recommendations.

  • Strong leadership and experience building a high-performance team through effective engagement, development and performance management strategies.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $196296 - $333704

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
