Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional program manager/leader for a challenging and exciting opportunity to lead in the Site Activation Task Force (SATAF) for Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), as a SATAF Program Manager.

The Sentinel Program (formerly GBSD) is an enormous and complex Mega-Project modernizing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. It includes a complete refurbishment or replacement of hundreds of aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly-designed, technologically-advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command & control system (including an updated airborne launch capability) as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the decades ahead.

Detailed Job Description:

This position will directly support the Installation SATAF Lead and AFGSC/A10 Directorateas theylead the Sentinel weapon system deployment with the command & control capabilities for the next generation ICBM.Duties will include supporting a team of engineers, program/project managers, and weapon system subject matter experts as they provide professional advice and support to AFGSC, Sentinel SPO and ICBM Wing leaders on all ICBM deployment, security, civil engineering and command & control aspects throughout all the deployment phases. Areas of knowledge responsibility that fall under the Installation Team include:

  • Weapon system command & control (e.g., launch console and command data processing, etc.)

  • ICBM codes/cryptography (i.e., securing the nuclear launch codes and assuring confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of commands)

  • Nuclear command, control & communications (NC3) systems (i.e., national communications systems used for receiving Presidential nuclear orders)

  • ICBM command pathways (i.e., hardline & RF networks for voice & data command transmission and reception)

  • Actuation & mechanical systems (e.g., missile suspension system, launcher closure door system, ballistic gas generators, missile umbilical retractors, etc.)

  • Power distribution & endurance systems (e.g., backup generators, emergency batteries, HVAC systems, etc.)

  • Physical security systems (e.g., motion sensors, visual sensors, delay features, etc.)

Candidates will be called upon to augment organic resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for:

  • Transition and Deployment Schedule Management

  • Transition and Deployment Risk Management

  • Mission Integration Management

  • ICBM Enterprise Management

Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.

This position is only located at FE Warren Air Force Base, WY. Due to the special-access classified working environment, the majority of work is performed on-site with somewhat limited opportunities for telework (less than 15% of weekly hours).

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in direct program/project management (or 8 years with a Masters degree)

  • Ability to identify, establish and cultivate important customer relationships with senior level officials and program stakeholders internal and external to the USAF, including AFGSC, AFMC, AFNWC, 20 AF internally, and Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force Civil Engineering Center, and contractor personnel externally.

  • Knowledge of Government contracting and current acquisition trends.

  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Leadership experience overseeing a team of employees is highly desirable.

  • Ability to coach and mentor team members to achieve their career goals and satisfy customer performance expectations is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with, or willingness to rapidly learn, complex schedule management principles is a plus.

  • PMP certification, and understanding of agile program management tools.

  • 10 years of experience with the USAF ICBM mission.

  • 5 years of experience with technical project management

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $120000 - $204000

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
