Senior Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Specialist - Fort Collins, CO

Status: Exempt

PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Senior Regulatory & Scientific Affairs (RSA) Specialist role will provide comprehensive regulatory support for the animal food, pet treat, and pet supplement products manufactured by PetDine. This role will work cross-functionally with Quality, Nutrition, Sales, Purchasing, and Operations to maintain regulatory compliance and exceed customer expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain regulatory oversight aligned with the RSA Animal Nutrition North America Team

  • Ensure label compliance for animal food, pet treat, and pet supplement products

  • Manage and maintain annual facility state facility registrations, customer-required product registrations, and branded pet supplement state registrations

  • Maintain NASC Primary Supplier-required formula, label, and Adverse Event monthly reporting

  • Support raw material risk assessment and claim substantiation work

  • Write and maintain regulatory SOPs, work instructions, and related training materials

  • Participate in pet industry associations and AAFCO engagement

  • Perform additional duties and special assignments as assigned

  • Travel may occasionally be required for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of animal food, pet treat, and pet supplement regulatory experience required

  • Must have experience with animal food, pet treat and pet supplement labeling requirements.

  • Comprehensive understanding of 21 CFR Parts 507 and 111 compliance

  • A high level of subject matter expertise related to the AAFCO process, FDA CVM, working with state regulatory agencies and NASC

  • Animal Food Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification preferred

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with solid attention to detail

  • Ability to focus on priorities and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Proven interpersonal skills including ability to work in a team environment, and actively participate and contribute to team-building efforts

EDUCATION

  • BS/BA degree required, preferably in animal nutrition, feed or food science, animal science, chemistry, or a related field
