Position Summary:

BAE Systems is seeking a Product Test Engineer for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business location in Fort Wayne, IN. Being a trusted provider of commercial aircraft solutions, the CAS business also produces and develops highly reliable, adaptable, and scalable avionics solutions for the leading manufacturers of commercial aircraft and their propulsion systems. The Product Test Engineers are a critical piece to our business and play a vital part of instilling our company s value of maintaining a lean culture by constantly looking for continuous improvement opportunities.

About the Opportunity:

In this Electrical Engineer, Product Test position, you will make impacts in the following ways;

  • Provide engineering product support thehigh-volumeEngine Systems product lines.

  • Supportmodern Avionics electronicsmanufacturing facility, defining and maintaining hardware test requirements, providing engineering guidance and support to our Engine Systems Electronic Systems Operationsorganizations.

  • Support our production floor by troubleshooting and dispositioning product, assisting with investigations, eliminating bottlenecks, and collaborating with other business functions to increase overall product/process efficiency in order to meet business needs while exceeding customerexpectations.

  • Mentoring team members.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Associate's degree in EET, ECE, ECET or equivalent technical degree program, and 2 or more years of applicable work experience.

  • Electronics troubleshooting and instrument familiarity (analog, digital, power, communications).

  • Capable of using standard electrical lab and test equipment to be successful with troubleshooting product failures down to a component level.

  • Demonstrated ability in isolating electrical failures to root cause.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and critical thinking.Proficient at interpreting engineering documentation including but not limited to schematics, assembly drawings, and component data sheets

  • Ability to interpret and apply specifications, standards, and customer requirements.Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize multiple activities in a cross-functional team environment

  • Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Some light travel may be required (<10%)

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering

  • Familiarity with the manufacturing and test of high reliability circuit card assemblies.

  • Experience using advanced test and analysis instrumentation (spectrum, bus and logic analyzers, etc.)

  • Experience programming in various software environments (Basic, UNIX, C , VB, NI LabVIEW, NI Test Stand, etc.)

  • Experienced with use of complex analytical tools.

  • Experience with Avionics communication interfaces.

  • Experience using complex investigation and analytical tools and methods (e.g. Statistical Process Controls, 6 Sigma Tools, 7-Step/8D, Fault Tree Analysis, Design of Experiments, etc.)

  • Experience working in a high-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Experience / Certification with Lean Manufacturing Principles and Six Sigma Tools

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $75510 - $128340

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
