BAE Systems Operations Leader - 4th Shift in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for an experienced candidate with interest in leading the day-to-day manufacturing execution on our 1st shift. In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help support hundreds of industry customers - whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or cabin and cockpit systems. The qualified individual will have the opportunity to lead, own, and influence these business areas in the commercial airline industry. Candidates will need to demonstrate technical capability and strong interpersonal/leadership skills in order to ensure that the full team is aligned and executing to business requirements and customer needs, driving quality improvement and operational performance. The Operations Leader is responsible for:

  • Ensuring all employees are working safely and according to work instructions.

  • Monitoring all work order and labor management activity on the shift.

  • Scheduling and monitoring work productivity, administer necessary company regulations, and communicate all information needed to ensure all employees are informed and working within company guidelines.

  • KPIs on a weekly basis. Able to understand site metrics and execute to operations objectives and key results.

  • Managing Tier 1 level process improvement teams and meetings. Is the driver of Lean Manufacturing activities on the shift as well as product flow.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Operational Leadership, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience in production/manufacturing/operations or similar environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team with difficult and demanding customer expectations.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal)

  • People management and interpersonal skills; uses good judgement in resolving conflict.

  • Ability to lead in a team-based manufacturing environment and make decisions with minimal supervision.

  • Customer focused.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Tools.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience utilizing lean manufacturing concepts with a proven track record of lean/six sigma implementation.

  • Previous experience supervising employees.

  • Experience utilizing business systems and tools that aid in managing labor, processes, and budgets.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $77814 - $132283

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
