In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define and develop the next generation of avionics whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management.

We are seeking a Senior Product Test Engineer to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment at the Fort Wayne Indiana facility. This role will support the aftermarket team in their testing and troubleshooting efforts, with an emphasis on complex power supply subassemblies . Requiring close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, this role will also develop solutions to reduce customer turn-around time and minimize rework/repair defects. Finally, this role requires a well-rounded electronics background, with hands on experience testing and troubleshooting electro-mechanical products/test equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot failed power supplies off aircraft engine control units.

  • Interface with Labview and HT_Basic to run module-level tests on circuit card subassemblies.

  • Interpret module-level fail data to perform root cause analysis on failure mode (both internal and external to the board).

  • Analyze complex analog circuitry for a high level and low-level understanding of power supply operation.

  • Troubleshoot failed hardware down to a component level.

  • Generate detailed rework/repair instructions.

  • Document workflow and findings reports for data tracking purposes.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical interviews and support recruiting efforts for future PE/PTE candidates.

  • Drive continuous improvements and safety initiatives.

  • Lead Kaizen events such as Six Sigma Green Belt Projects, 5S/7S, and Gemba Walks.

  • Embrace and implement Lean Manufacturing principles.

  • Train junior engineers on high and low level circuit operation.

  • Create new tools and procedures to aid in reducing various forms of waste.

  • Collaborate frequently with multidisciplinary individuals and teams representing other departments, and/or outside organizations.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in designing, testing, or troubleshooting electronic assemblies (or equivalent experience).

  • Familiar with the operation of test equipment such as multimeters, LCR meters, oscilloscopes, benchtop power supplies, function generators, etc.

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, CAD drawings, function block diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Exhibits strong problem solving skills to develop solutions to complex problems, leaning on established precedents and policies.

  • Strong understanding and application of technical principles and industry practices relating to various Switch Mode Power Supply topologies using single phase, 3 phase, and DC supplies. These include, but are not limited to Push-Pull, Shunt, Flyback, Buck and Boost convertors.

  • Strong understanding of power electronics, analog signal processing, active/passive filters, and closed loop systems.

  • General understanding of digital electronic systems.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • IPC J-STD certified.

  • Experience with circuit simulation.

  • Experience working with Class 3 products and Power Supplies.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $73350 - $124740

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
