Job Description
BAE Systems Controls & Avionics Solutions (CAS) business area is seeking its next Vice President and General Manager to lead the strategic direction of the business, ensure operational excellence and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. Reporting to the President of BAE Systems Electronic Systems (ES) sector, this role will be based in Endicott, NY; Fort Wayne, IN; or Rochester, United Kingdom.
CAS provides flight and mission-critical products to more than 600 commercial and 170 military customers around the world. CAS leverages its development and integration expertise to be a successful provider of flight-critical electronics for military and commercial aircraft, including fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, power management solutions, cabin management systems, and mission computers.

Airlines are supported from Fort Wayne, Rochester and Singapore. In addition, we have offices in Redmond, Washington and Shanghai, China.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of the Controls & Avionics Solutions business including P&L, growth, and customer satisfaction.
Establish, and maintain rapport at the senior executive levels at key OEMs and airlines.
Establish and drive business and product strategies to enable profitable revenue growth in target markets.
Drive a lean mindset to continuously improve business processes, controls, and systems to ensure efficiency, performance, and compliance.
Direct a cross-functional, global team to execute on development, production and aftermarket support including market research, product definition, and lifecycle management.
Set safety, quality, cost, and delivery goals specific to the business, align objectives and KPIs, review performance, and drive continuous improvement.
Identify potential M&A opportunities to enhance and expand the business.
Cultivate a high-performance culture that inspires teamwork and personal excellence in alignment with the BAE Systems behaviors and cultural values.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
A minimum of 18 years of experience leading matrixed functional and program teams through all phases of the product lifecycle with responsibility for all aspects of business objectives including strategy, capture, development, execution, performance, quality, schedule, and cost.
Bachelor s degree with 15 or more years experience in technology, aerospace, or defense.
Proven track record in scaling Business Areas or companies to high-volume success, with 15 years experience in the Commercial and Military Aviation markets.
Full P&L responsibility in a $500 million unit with demonstrated growth.
Skilled communicator with experience shaping and influencing the image of a complex business with ability to build peer and customer relationships, gain trust, and encourage collaboration.
Executive guidance regarding program and portfolio performance status (cost/schedule/resources/risk) as well as performance to annual financial objectives.
Ability to set a vision and strategy, enabling teams to build product experiences that deliver measurable business impact.
Experience building, upskilling, and managing global teams within matrixed organizations.
Strong coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to achieve results through others. Experience identifying talent opportunities and gaps, along with appropriate with development actions.
Proven ability to manage conflict constructively, navigate crises, and facilitate productive debates.
Ability to make key decisions, gain organizational buy-in, and implement actions timely and effectively.
Demonstrated ability to successfully support an organization using change management skills.
Ability to negotiate at an executive level with internal and external customers and partners.
Continuous improvement mindset with knowledge of defect elimination/quality, productivity/COPQ.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
International business experience in aerospace, defense, or commercial/civil aviation.
Extensive industry knowledge and experience in commercial and military avionics including, fly-by-wire flight controls, aircraft electrification, digital engine controls, power management solutions, cabin management systems, and mission computers.
Experience in industry networking, participating in relevant roles, i.e. advisory boards.
Knowledge of relevant Customers, industrial landscape and trends across Commercial and Military aviation markets.
Business Area Leadership for a diverse portfolio with complex contracts and products/services/suppliers and multiple geographic locations.
International Sales and Direct Commercial Sales capture and experience.
Transition to production program experience.
Leverage technology across a portfolio to support execution.
Exemplary Risk & Opportunity management skills.
