This position is for an Embedded Software Engineer supporting the Mission Systems Roadmaps (MSR) Common Systems Portfolio within the Foundational Technologies organization. The Common Systems Team is a cross-functional group of hardware and software engineers working to design, develop, prototype, and integrate cutting-edge technologies into the mission processing environments of Lockheed Martin platforms. Our mission is to mature technologies for transition to our programs. The position requires a candidate with a strong aptitude for learning, ability to work under cost and schedule pressure, and support several related products lines simultaneously.

Who You Are

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will apply your aptitude for learning and technical skills to solve challenging middleware problems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You’ll contribute to software solutions with an eye toward commonality and reusability to reduce long-term costs. You will participate in the full development lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation, testing, hardware integration, and sustainment. Along the way, you’ll develop your own software skills, learn how we integrate hardware and software, build interpersonal relationships with peers to facilitate healthy collaboration, and deliver on customer needs. You will be responsible for working with the Common Systems Team, internal software teams and stakeholders, cross-functional efforts, and external customers to develop, integrate, and test middleware and software applications.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be a US Citizen

• Ability to obtain a Secret Government Security Clearance

• Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related STEM discipline

• 1-4 years professional experience preferred in similar discipline or Master's degree

• Experience with C, C++, Java, or a related language

• Experience with Windows or Linux software development

• Comfort with command line interface environments

• Experience with software/hardware integration and testing

• Demonstrable work ethic, time management, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

Desired Skills:

• Active Secret Government Security Clearance

• Experience with Agile methodologies

• Experience with virtualization, containers, and container deployment

• Experience with Git, GitLab, and CI/CD concepts

• Experience with Rust, Python

• Knowledge of computer architectures and hardware

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
