Description: LM Advanced Development Programs is looking for a Mass Properties Engineer. Performs Mass Properties requirements definition. Researches, plans, analyzes and measures designs and hardware for system weight and center of gravity. Assures systems can operate within mission envelop with various stores loadings. Maintains weight and CG metrics for individual tails and loadings, and documents in various technical publications.
Perform aircraft mass properties (weight, center-of-gravity, and inertia) analyses in the development, production and sustainment phases of an aircraft program's life cycle. Estimate, develop and verify weight, center-of-gravity and inertia assessments of detail parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies and the air vehicle using the principles of mathematics, geometry, statics, and computer aided three dimensional interactive analysis (CATIA) and measuring equipment. Design, develop, maintain, and enhance the software that directly supports the mass properties (weight, center-of-gravity) data handling and data integration activities for aircraft programs. Develop the program's mass properties control and management plan. Perform weight and balance analyses and the actual verification and validation of the complete aircraft in order to support operational weight and balance control system activities, flight test activities and aircraft delivery requirements. Develop and maintain weight and balance handbooks that support aircraft flight safety and flight clearance requirements. Prepare weight and balance control system forms.
