Lockheed Martin Flight Test Instrumentation System Design Engineer in Fort Worth, Texas

Actively participates in the development and operations efforts of the Joint Strike Fighter Flight Test program and other programs as the Instrumentation Operations Engineer (IOE) and support the procurement of FTI Group A hardware along with vendor coordination. The Flight Test Instrumentation development effort is a multi year tri company project planned to support the SDD, System Design & Development, program phase, The DT Viability Project, and the Follow on Modernization programs. Primarily function as Instrumentation System Design & Operations Engineer at Fort Worth supporting local activities and test sites. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts, in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. Tasks will include developing instrumentation requirements, schedules, resolving equipment and sensors selection problems and detailed system design of the instrumentation data acquisition system. Develops system software/programming for proper operation and data collection. Supports lab checkouts required to resolve instrumentation data acquisition anomalies. Supports daily flight test operations by assuring a test ready instrumentation system. Interacts with flight test engineers and other test engineering disciplines involved in scheduling, testing and troubleshooting during developmental aircraft flight testing. Works independently across engineering, maintenance, and logistics function teams, and communicates instrumentation issues and status across these teams. Fort Worth assigned tasks may include supporting initial installations/functional operations on the production line and the flight line as the test aircraft complete the manufacturing, first flight and ferry flight sequences. Interfaces with the FTI fabrication shop to ensure that all required hardware is identified, on order, and delivery dates are known. Selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified materials.

**Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.**

Basic Qualifications:

Operational experience with Instrumentation systems

• Experience with digital data acquisition systems

• Familiar with IRIG Standards

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience

Desired Skills:

Experience with Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) theory

• Excellent Communications Skills, Team Player, Presentation skills, Project Management, JSF Aircraft/Program Knowledge, Electrical Design (CATIA V4 & V5), VAS and PDM Experience.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
