The Role
The Machinist II role is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, numerical control machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. Machinist II is a skilled, experienced technician with the ability to perform most tasks independently, while seeking guidance or training for more critical tasks. Work is under moderate supervision.
Pay Starts at $23.70/HR. Pay Can Be Adjusted with Experience.
First and Second Shift Available:
First Shift: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM Mon-Thurs
Second Shift: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM Mon-Thurs
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability and solid work ethic
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces
Demonstrate the ability to follow the sequence of operations and setup requirements
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points onmaterial or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining
Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes and grinders
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut
Enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machine controls or control media as required
Verifies compliance of finished workpiece to specifications
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
Ability to identify worn tooling, installing replacement inserts, grind wheels and carbide cutters on equipment and maintains daily PM as required
Collaborates with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
Experience with CNC controls: Fanuc, Mazatrol and Okuma OSP desired
Ability to help identify and troubleshoot alignment issues
Ability to identify quality-related issues
Full comprehension of G and M Code
Demonstrates versatility across multiple machine types
Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with two to three years’ related experience and/or training as a Machinist
Must have basic knowledge of Critical Safety Devices and their purpose.
Must understand all Permit Systems.
Demonstrate the ability to accurately complete all work-related documents.
Understand basic operating principles for all plant machinery
Fluency in English (read, write, comprehend)
Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems
Must have mechanical aptitude
Observe safety and security procedures
