What Clinical Services contributes to Cardinal Health
Clinical Care Delivery provides high quality, patient-centered care focused on diagnosing, treating and managing care while ensuring the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the practice.
Clinical Services are responsible for medical services that directly or indirectly provide healthcare to patients.
The Administrative Medical Assistant performs administrative tasks to support providers and clinic staff. The Admin M.A. will also facilitate communication between the patient and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions (other duties as assigned):
Processes all out bound referrals in a timely manner, prioritizes urgent and STAT items appropriately.
Ensures all pertinent paperwork regarding patient referrals is completed and documented in EMR.
Scheduling of patient follow-ups, non-treatment related. Scheduling of labs and port flushes appropriately and correctly.
Provides effective insurance authorization as needed. Submits all necessary documentation and proper diagnosis to insurance when submitting authorization.
Keeps patients informed of status of referrals/authorizations.
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, both on the phone and in person.
Processes genetic testing and coordinates with pathology departments to ensure proper specimens are sent.
Complete tasks as stated in the Admin MA SOP
Back up clinical MA when needed.
Effectively completes other duties and projects as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications/Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited educational institution preferred.
Strong customer service background, preferably in healthcare environment.
Current CPR certification required
Knowledge of computer/telephony support, preferably in a health care environment
Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment
Excellent verbal communication skills
Competence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipment
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills
