Lockheed Martin Test Engineering Manager in Grand Prairie, Texas

Description: Lockheed Martin is looking for a Test Engineer Manager in support of Quality Engineering operations based in Grand Prairie, TX. The quality professional will be responsible for the strategic leadership and performance responsibility within the Environmental Test Laboratory (ETL). This Manager will oversee the activity of a team of test engineers within the ETL. He will be responsible for providing overall program support and leadership regarding all integration and test aspects of system level and sub-system assemblies. The manager will lead and coordinate the activity of this engineering team to support the preparation, planning, setup, and execution of engineering development, qualification, and production tests on electronic components or missile assemblies.

The manager also will be responsible for the following:

Overseeing and assessing in conducting dynamic and climatic tests in accordance with approved procedures, safety standards, and organizational policy and ensure proper equipment calibration.

Identify the costs and resources for continuous implementation of technology and process improvements.

Coordinate and manage all environmental test efforts within the ETL.

Oversee the operation of all test equipment within the ETL.

Provide operations input to the development of engineering test requirements while overseeing the development of test equipment fabrication to support the final verification processes.

Provide input during proposal and capture phases of programs to support operations Integration and Environmental Test efforts.

Provide insight and expertise to anomalies found during the integration and test process to aide in root cause and corrective action efforts.

Establish and maintain complete testing schedules within ETL.

Assess needs for and assign personnel to various off-site efforts.

Provide oversight/coordination of the ongoing interaction and exchange of technical information among all responsible organizations.

Participate in critical design and data reviews to provide valuable feedback to program partners on testing methods.

Assess the need for and implement capital projects to support test efficiencies and test equipment modernization.

Coordinate, budget, and execute equipment support and maintenance plans for capital and contract test equipment.

Engage with cross-function or cross-program partners to share ideas and knowledge to support Engineering Design Model and IRAD programs as required.

Oversee and assess in maintaining and performing minor repair of vibration test equipment.

Develop test engineering talent to cultivate an inclusive integration and working environment within ETL.

Coordinate test equipment calibration/maintenance for laboratory equipment.

Write and administer performance appraisals for ETL employees.

Basic Qualifications:

Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited University, with a minimum of 10 years of related environmental test laboratory experience.

Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Knowledge of basic electronic theory and high degree of mechanical aptitude.

A good understanding of the fundamental concepts of structural dynamics, random vibration theory, and digital signal analysis.

Understand the fundamental concepts of random vibration and digital signal processing.

Ability to lead groups of multi-disciplined test engineers.

Ability to accept responsibility, exercise authority and be held accountable for on-time and on-budget testing activities.

Ability to operate test equipment within ETL to generate the following environmental conditions: vibration, shock, temperature cycling, thermal shock, humidity, altitude, and static acceleration.

A strong focus on continuous laboratory improvement.

Have strong written and verbal communications skills.

Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Adherence to high ethical and moral standards and conduct.

Leadership skills and behaviors that align with the Full Spectrum Leadership principles.

Desired Skills:

Ability to design vibration test fixtures with consideration for the effects of structural resonance.

Knowledge of vibration system components with the ability to troubleshoot and repair vibration systems.

Knowledge of refrigeration systems with the ability to troubleshoot and repair refrigeration equipment.

Experience in Bid, Proposal and Estimating practices and development of Quality Assurance Basis of Estimates (BOE).

Familiarity with requirements for handling and control of Government Furnished Equipment/Property.
