BAE Systems Principal Software Engineer (Hybrid) in Greenlawn, New York

Job Description

We need your talent, motivation, and vision as a Principal Software Engineer to join our Long Island team.

We are actively seeking experienced Software Engineers with a minimum of 4 years of experience and a range of skills to develop high-quality, real-time embedded software for fielded electronics platforms. BAE Systems in Greenlawn, NY has recently been awarded new programs and is currently undergoing an exciting period of growth.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed more than 50% on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility >50% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Secret clearance.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other scientific degree with strong software content.

  • 4 years of experience in software development.

  • Ability to design, develop, and implement software solutions to meet project requirements, including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

  • Understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices, with the ability to design and develop scalable and maintainable software solutions.

  • Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

  • Comfortable supporting and maintaining existing software, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement bug fixes and enhancements as needed.

  • Strong problem-solving skills that translate to working, maintainable software.

  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills as needed.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience in embedded software development.

  • Working knowledge of software tools such as Jira, BitBucket, debuggers, etc

  • Experience with DO-178 or other defined software process

  • Experience with Agile Development and DevSecOps

  • Active Secret Clearance

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $103752 - $176378

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
