Lockheed Martin Backshop Aircraft Welder, Welding Technician Level 4- Multi Shift in Greenville, South Carolina

Description:

You will be the Backshop Aircraft Welder, Welding Technician Level 4 for the Lockheed Martin Greenville Backshop Team. Our team is responsible for Backshop support for the build, repair and delivery of various aircraft to our customers.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Backshop Aircraft Welder, Welding Technician Level 4 you will be responsible for planning welding technique and sequence of welding operations on complete assemblies so that enclosed or overlapping component parts are welded in proper order to allow maximum accessibility to areas to be welded and to reduce distortions and strains to a minimum.

•This position requires a combination of electric, gas, arc, helium arc, TIG, MIG and Plasma Arc welding of various metals.

The Backshop Aircraft Welder, Welding Technician Level 4 will also need to be knowledgeable in assembly operation and maintenance to include:

• Machinist Skills

• General Mechanic Skills

The candidate will be required to:

• Comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

• Use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

• Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, twist, and work on or in the aircraft.

• Frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50 pounds.

• Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean, FOD-free work area.

• Properly use, handle and dispose of hazardous materials, and toxic or caustic chemicals per Government regulations and company procedures

Acceptable candidate must be certified within 180 days from start date with validation testing performed by Lockheed Martin.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed to perform job tasks. The employee is regularly exposed to vibration.

Basic Qualifications:

8+ years of welding experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in aviation welding with GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) manual welding processes in aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel and titanium.

Candidate must possess the following Qualifications and be certified to AWS D17.1:

• Repair weldable components on and off aircraft with the use of special tooling and ground support equipment following oral and/or written instructions.

• Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and weld symbols.

• Use and operate all hand tools and machinery associated with a weld shop

• Ability to design and fabricate weld holding fixtures as necessary to perform individual welding projects.

• Basic knowledge of aircraft manuals

• Familiarity with AWS A2.4 Standard Weld Symbols and AWS A3.0 Standard Welding Terms

• Trade / vocational training or military training as a welder.

Desired Skills:

Prefer candidate who is certified in accordance with AWS D17.1 Weld Class A using GTAW (TIG) in aluminum, carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys and titanium in all forms, weld types, and positions in thickness from .025 to .375.

Experience performing machining operations or Mechanical repairs

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
