Lockheed Martin Backshop Painter/Chem Lab, Technician Level III in Greenville, South Carolina
Description:
You will be the Backshop Painter/Chem Lab, Technician Level III for the Lockheed Martin Greenville Backshop Team. As a key member of our team, your focus will be in our chemical processing lab, where you will apply various treatments including alodine, anodizing, passivation, and chemical etch with some opportunities to paint smaller aircraft parts and components.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Backshop Painter/Chem Lab, Technician Level III your primary responsibilities will be for a variety of essential job functions, such as:
1. Alodine Application: Apply chromate conversion coatings to aircraft parts to provide corrosion resistance and improve paint adhesion.
2. Anodizing: Perform electrochemical conversion coating to create a durable, corrosion-resistant surface on aluminum parts.
3. Passivation: Treat stainless steel parts to remove free iron and promote a passive layer, reducing the risk of corrosion.
4. Chemical Etch: Prepare surfaces for painting by applying a chemical etch to remove impurities and create a strong bond between the metal and paint.

Basic Qualifications:
Candidate must have 8 years total experience with at least 6 years of aircraft and/or Automotive paint applications or Chemical coating processes to include Alodine, acid etch, etc or other related Aircraft/automotive coatings experience.
Desired Skills:
• Ability to read and interpret engineering paint drawings and technical manuals, understanding symbols, flags, and general notes to ensure precise application.
• Expertise in the layout, application, and interpretation of marking drawings for major and minor interior/exterior markings and decals, including stripes and two-tone surfaces, which are essential for aircraft identification and aesthetics.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills to manage painting projects, enhance team productivity through strategic planning, and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Capable of performing comprehensive surface preparation, including sophisticated chemical treatments and abrasive techniques on critical and structural components of aircraft.
• Capable of applying multiple layers of paint, controlling the thickness and evenness of each coat, and managing intermediate drying times and techniques without supervision.
• Capable of adjusting paint mixing ratios and viscosity for different environmental conditions and surface types, ensuring consistent quality and thickness in each coat without supervision.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
