Job Purpose:

This BMS HW Engineering Specialist role is within the growing space of battery module electrical systems and BMS in E&APSD. Incumbent will be responsible for developing the Battery Management System hardware, requirements, MGPP and architecture for a wide range of Caterpillar products.

Job Duties:

  • Translate NPI program requirements to technical specification for the BMS hw strategy and componentry

  • Single point of contact for Caterpillar’s BMS HW

  • Collaborate with various organizations to develop Battery Management System hardware

  • In addition to demonstrating technical expertise, this position will act as a technical team leader

  • Build relationships and leverage business unit and corporate validation experts

  • Stay abreast of battery system & BMS industry product trends

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience

  • Excellent analytical skills and understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications.

  • Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills

  • Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well in other units, customers, and suppliers

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience in Battery Systems and/or Battery Management Systems hardware

  • Experience in electronic component selection and integration

  • Experience in flexible and our rigid printed circuit board schematic and layout

  • Experience in manufacturability and or design for manufacturing of circuit boards

  • Experience in the development process for new components

  • Experience with other electric drivetrain components such as motors, power electronics, etc.

  • Knowledge of drivetrain systems for a range of architectures (hybrid, BEV, etc.)

  • Master’s degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum

Additional Information

  • The location for this position is available at multiple Cat facilities

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position

  • This position may require 10% travel
