Reporting to the VP, Software Engineering – Digital, the VP, Software Engineering – Martech Platform serves as the software engineering leader for Martech and Personalization Platform operating in a shared service model. This role will collaborate with product, technology leaders, and vendors driving innovation of Martech and setting the technical strategy. You will own a large portion of the Adobe technology stack while creating highly functioning engineering teams with a mission to enable Marriott digital channels to produce innovative personalized digital experiences. This role is accountable for architecture, development, and delivery of innovative, flexible, and performant Martech real-time capabilities. This role ensures that teams develop and follow standard application development tools, processes, and practices to promote industry leading solutions in the martech space. This position manages day-to-day relationships with global information technology teams to promote client satisfaction with all technology teams and business partners. This role in responsible for driving continuous improvement culture to improve quality, stability, and performance while consistently delivering high value features.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required:
• 12+ years of application architecture and development leadership experience, including:
o Direct experience leading technology teams in defining, creating and supporting enterprise-scale consumer digital platforms with strong knowledge of martech, personalization, and hospitality industry best practices.
o Direct experience in architecture and migration of multi-billion revenue building modern digital platforms.
• Demonstrated experience in Agile development methodologies, specifically with large-scale initiatives and geographically distributed teams.
• Direct management of cross-functional, sourced, and matrixed teams
• Management of complex budgets in excess of $25-50M direct and indirect costs
• Demonstrated digital thought leadership commensurate with the scale of Marriott digital properties
• Demonstrated enterprise technology leadership experience in hospitality, travel or retail industry.
• Demonstrated experience delivering features and capabilities in Martech and Personalization space.
• Working understanding of CDP technologies
Preferred:
• Demonstrated experience with the following technologies:
• Adobe (AEP, AAM, Target, Launch, Analytics, Campaign, Exp Edge), AEM, Web SPA Tech, Native Mobile Tech, NoSQL DB Tech, Headless Content Strategies
• Demonstrated success leading medium- to large-scale initiatives/transformations
• Proven executive experience in strategic planning and budgeting within one or more business groups
• Experience with building highly productive and efficient engineering teams with mixed sourcing strategies
• Proven knowledge of SDLC; good understanding of ITIL v4 Framework
• Strong process management, negotiating, influencing, and problem resolution skills
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Experience in business systems and process planning
• Knowledge of business environment, service requirements and hospitality culture
• Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action
• Ability to understand and communicate the lifecycle of technologies and applications and to translate into business strategies for the client organizations
• Graduate/post graduate degree
• Solid understanding of IT financial structures and ability to manage to corporate financial processes and standards - including drivers of process costs
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas in easy-to-understand business terms
• Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls and leading in a managed service environment

Technical Leadership
• Trains and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate
• Provides financial input on department or project budgets, capital expenditures or other cost/resource estimates as requested

Delivering Technology
• Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.

• Validates completeness of requirements prior to Service Provider solutioning
• Ensures all projects follow the defined development and business case processes

• Ensures early warning to the business stakeholder executives regarding degraded or missed service levels

• Follows all defined technology standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed

Service Provider Management
• Validates that Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.
• Makes short term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources
• Monitors Service Provider outcomes
• Reviews estimates of work effort for client project provided by Service Providers for accuracy
• Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to clients

"California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $93,713.00 to $204,107.00 annually.
Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $93,713.00 to $185,551.00 annually.
New York City & Westchester County, NY Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $113,393.00 to $204,107.00 annually.
Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $93,713.00 to $204,107.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus. Employees will accrue 0.4616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
