Johnson & Johnson MedTech is currently hiring a Program Manager, Emerging Risks & Impact Assessments is responsible for managing all aspects of the MedTech Product Stewardship Emerging Risks and Impacts Assessment (PSER) program. The preferred location for this role is Cincinnati, OH however remote options within the United States will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Manager is responsible for ensuring that the MedTech PSER program is robust enough to track, monitor, assess, communicate, and document relevant global emerging requirements for product stewardship compliance and stakeholder requirements. Some of the common product stewardship regulatory programs include ROHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances), REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals), WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment), CLP (Classification, Labeling and Packaging), Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Battery Directive, and others.

The Manager will manage all aspect of the MedTech PSER program by establishing PSER program goals, KPIs, metrics, procedures, forms, and governance. She/he will work closely with our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Business Unit Product Stewards and Regional Product Stewards to comprehensively understand and communicate potential impacts of emerging requirements to our businesses. The Manager is responsible for ensuring appropriate regulatory tracking, completion of PSER impact assessments for relevant emerging global PS requirements and communicating and escalating relevant emerging risks to Enterprise and MedTech business functions and senior leadership. The Manager will have responsibility for managing all the documentation associated with evaluating and communicating on emerging PS risks globally. This will include creating and managing PowerPoint presentations, emails, memos, White Papers, etc. targeted to relevant business groups and teams. She/he will also periodically evaluate the effectiveness of the current MT PSER Tracking Tool and evaluate alternate technologies and tools as relevant. The Manager will also be responsible for completing risk assessments on every relevant emerging PS risk, assigning appropriate risk ranking and then escalating appropriate MT PS risks.

Working with the Enterprise PS Governance and Assurance Lead, the Manager supports Enterprise Regulatory Tracking and Governance – including the Enterprise Product Stewardship standard. The role will work with Product Stewardship BU leads in helping to conduct self-assessments and ensure on-time closure of CAPAs. The Manager will also ensure that interdependencies between the PSER program, the MedTech Materials Steering Committee (MSC) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) requirements are properly managed. She/he will represent MedTech PS in groups that manage, prioritize, and escalate environmental product and packaging risks.

The Manager will report to the Global Director, Product Stewardship. As a valued member of the MedTech Product Stewardship organization under the Global Regulatory Affairs organization, she/he can be located at any J&J MedTech site in the US. The role can also be fully remote.

The base pay range for this position is $115,000 to $180,000 based on experience . The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A University/Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of degree is required, a master’s degree preferred with emphasis on chemistry, engineering, EHS or related sciences preferred.

  • 8-10 years of relevant industry experience is required; Healthcare/MedTech/Pharma sector preferred.

  • Experience in establishing and managing an emerging risk management program where emerging risks are assessed, ranked, evaluated, prioritized, communicated, and documented is required .

  • Experience in establishing and leading complex projects/programs, including impact assessments, within a multilayered, hierarchical organization is required .

  • Experience in project management with designing process flows, plans, targets, metrics, KPIs, documentation and communication assets, tracking and governance mechanisms is required .

  • Technical knowledge of product stewardship regulations (REACH, RoHS, WEEE, CLP, Battery, PPWD etc.) is strongly preferred .

  • Strong influencing skills and ability to engage senior business leaders and convene diverse groups is required.

  • Ability to make a good business case and drive change is required.

  • Strong collaboration skills and strong attention to detail is required.

  • Strong English communication (both written and verbal) is required.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% as business requires.
