As a product owner, you will be in the driver seat and responsible to define business and system requirements for aspects of an Optum enterprise data warehouse. In this role you will partner with skilled counterparts across our organization and our internal clients to deliver high-quality data into our data warehouse by writing high quality features and user stories that technical business stakeholders understand.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal leadership and business to obtain voice of customer (VOC)

  • Establishing constructive, collaborative relationship with customers

  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer and product needs

  • Define capabilities and features to meet customer needs for programs, projects, and product

  • Communicates effectively to build relationships with key stakeholders (scrum teams / product leads / delivery leads)

  • Ensure user stories and features are directly tied to Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)

  • Possess an in-depth understanding of agile/lean product management best practices and frameworks.

  • Partners appropriately across the portfolio to minimize overlapping work

  • Understand the infrastructure/technology/flow of product in a Data Warehousing environment and how system components are integrated

  • Support integration testing / automation practices

  • Provides situational support to other product teams

  • Manage complex requirements, refine products based on business goals and market needs

  • Decomposes capabilities into manageable features/stories in Rally

  • Product backlog and prioritization of user stories with team members

  • Business requirements are represented in the product backlog

  • Partners with Scrum master’s in supporting Scrum Framework

  • Review of test cases against user stories acceptance criteria

  • Periodically re-prioritize the Product Backlog based on customer feedback, market changes and business priority as communicated by the Product Manager

  • Formally accepts the user stories once all acceptance criteria are met and demo-ed

  • Actively participates in Product Backlog grooming sessions, retrospectives, defect management and project team’s release planning sessions

  • Access-able for the team to answer questions, and during Sprint planning sessions, and Daily Scrum

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years collaborating with stakeholders, business and technical partners and gathering requirements

  • 5+ years working in all phases of Data Warehouse SDLC in one or more of the following roles: Systems Analyst, Developer, IT Business Analyst, Product Owner, Scrum Master

  • 5+ years of experience in SQL execution with the purpose of analyzing data

  • 3+ years of experience as Product Owner managing product priorities and backlog

  • 3+ years working in an Agile environment, writing user stories, Rally and working as part of a scrum team

  • Experience working with cross functional teams in a large matrixed organization

  • Experience working in an Agile environment or familiarity with Agile methodology

  • Healthcare Industry experience

  • Able to conduct after hours calls with offshore teams as needed

Connecticut Residents Only: The salary range for Connecticut residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
