Join us as aLockheed Martin Aeronautics Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer (Level 4). In this role, you’ll develop flight test instrumentation supporting the world’s premier aircraft. A successful FTI engineer:

  • Works independently or leads a team to execute project, schedule, and technical requirements to meet the goals of the test program.

  • Is responsible for specification, selection, design, integration, operation and maintenance of airborne data acquisition systems, and their related components. This includes telemetry, flight test specific hardware, or prototypes for flight test evaluation.

  • Oversees installation, checkout, and calibration of data systems, to ensure collected data can be properly displayed, processed, and analyzed.

  • Maintains configuration control, and mission capability of the instrumentation system as well as all associated ground support equipment.

  • Supports preflight, post-flight, and control room activities for all scheduled missions.

  • Interfaces with test ops, maintenance, management, and customers to ensure all instrumentation requirements are coordinated and accounted for.

A level 4 employee typically has 9-15 years of professional experience.

Some shift, extended hours, weekend work and travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field

  • At least nine years of related, professional experience

  • Instrumentation experience

  • Aerospace background

Desired Skills:

  • ABET-accredited bachelor’s with a technical master’s degree

  • Specific experience in flight test instrumentation and developing data acquisition systems for air vehicles including Curtiss-Wright or Safran equipment

  • Analog and digital circuit design and analysis

  • Proficient in troubleshooting techniques and tools, including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and other common laboratory equipment

  • Background in related specialties: signal conditioning, transducers, data acquisition, video protocols and compression, GPS, IRIG 106, and avionics bus protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, IEEE 1394, Ethernet, and Fiber Channel

  • Proven abilities to define and select equipment to support engineering build requirements

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings & process specifications, CATIA familiarity

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Top Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
