About This Job

Air and Space Force Solutions, a business unit within BAE Systems, has an opening at our Hill Air Force Base, Utah location for an AWS Cloud System Administrator. The selected candidate will join our Information Services team and have an important role in supporting our mission of strategic deterrence through continual improvement and innovation.

The position will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement client s cloud infrastructure within AWS and other hosting services. This is a highly technical role providing excellent career development opportunities for the successful candidate. The AWS Cloud System Administrator will work as a member of a highly technical Enterprise Cloud Department in the design, implementation, and operation of the enterprise-wide systems infrastructure

  • Assist in training for all departments for overlap support and any cross-department end-user training

  • Assist in performing root cause analysis and resolve faults and errors in applications

  • Assist in developing recommendations for enhancing approaches for software support services

  • Assist in developing security baselines and standards for AWS and on-premises resources, hardening and strengthening security to exceed the latest best practices

  • Ensure adherence to IT infrastructure standards, policies, and procedures

  • Update work instruction documents and standard operating procedures

  • Collaborate with vendors in the research, development, and implementation of various technologies

Clearance Requirement

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Education and Experience Requirement

A technical degree and years of relevant experience for this position are as follows:

HS Degree: 11 years experience

BA/BS Degree: 7 years experience

MA/MS Degree: 5 years experience

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with installing, managing and supporting enterprise applications such as ACAS, ePO, Microsoft Active Directory, HBSS.

  • Assisting with maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting Windows and RHEL environments.

  • Assisting with maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

  • Assisting with the administration of various internal & external IT systems, including:- Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, VPN, etc.- Windows Server: 2016, 2019- Virtual Desktops: VMware vSphere, VDI, AWS Desktops

  • Experience resolving faults and errors in applications.

  • Communicating effectively with internal and external resources necessary to successfully complete assignments or projects.

  • Proactively managing and prioritizing multiple related projects, assignments, timelines, milestones, and follow-up communications.

  • Experience with DISA STIG checklists to assess and document compliance.

  • The applicant must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification requirements on hire date.

Required Certifications

The applicant must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification requirements on hire date or must obtain such within 6 months of being hired.

Required Security Clearance

This position requires an active final Secret clearance upon hire date. The applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance. An active Top Secret clearance is preferred.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Hands-on experience with AWS supporting large-scale deployments as an administrator.

  • Experience with migrating and/or extending on-premises software to the cloud.

  • Use of scripting to automate administrative tasks using PowerShell or AWS Console.

  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Fast, aggressive learner.

  • AWS Cloud Certification is a preferred.

  • Microsoft Certification is a preferred.

  • Experience with AWS Cloud Platform (IaaS) is preferred.
