The Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Communications, will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of scientific communication materials consisting of J&J internal or published data, as well as congress materials for the educational field needs for the U.S. Immunology MSL team (supporting rheumatology, gastroenterology, dermatology, autoantibody).
Key Responsibilities:
Create and maintain scientific communication materials as needed to support the U.S. Immunology MSL organization
Project management of communication materials (e.g. lead prioritization meetings and track prioritization, timelines and progress for communication materials including MSL proactive and reactive slide decks)
Support slide creation and formatting from abstracts from medical congresses and other clinical/scientific meetings for development of post-congress medical information request decks
Oversee quality control to ensure scientific accuracy of reactive decks and facilitate their review and approval process
In collaboration with Medical Affairs colleagues, collect and critically analyze pertinent internal and external documents and studies that provide scientific rationale for the use of J&J products
Support the development and review of, and approval process for, compliant materials for proactive usage by MSLs
Collaborate with MSL partners for additional ad hoc communication material needs
Management of, i.e. provide direction, oversight, and feedback to, contractor(s) and vendor(s)
Track and analyze metrics of communication material use by MSLs
Facilitate troubleshooting of communication material access, formatting, and function between desktop and tablet
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., MSLs, MSL Head & Field Directors, Medical Directors, Medical Communications & Scientific Exchange, Integrated Evidence Team Leads) to fully understand in the strategic scientific needs and identify how the Associate Director, MSL Communications can meet such needs through development of specific field Medical Affairs tools and resources
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of medical communications or medical writing experience or 6 years of related (pharmaceutical) work experience or an advanced degree (MS, PhD, PharmD) discipline with a minimum of 4 years related (pharmaceutical) work experience is required
Experience and Skills:
Required:
Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional environments as well as ability to partner with scientists, academicians, clinicians and vendors is required
Must be highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, with outstanding slide design skills with including scientific accuracy, visual appeal, creativity and innovative thinking
Ability to translate complex clinical concepts into simple, digestible and appealing visual displays is required
Detail-orientation with ability to efficiently fact-check and find errors is required
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
Excellent time management and organizational skills are required
Experience in Word, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Professional is required
Preferred:
Experience in Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Immunology or related therapeutic areas is highly preferred
Experience in pharmaceutical health care compliance environment for external communication of scientific materials, with knowledge of compliant display of scientific data is highly preferred
People management experience is highly preferred, including specifically contractor and vendor management experience
Familiarity with Veeva Systems or the Medical/Legal/Regulatory review process is preferred
