Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is searching for a Director, AI for Medical Engagement to lead a pan-JJIM team and drive the AI and advanced analytics roadmap for medical affairs solutions across all therapeutic areas (TAs). This role will be based in Titusville, NJ with consideration to be based in Horsham, PA.

The Director, AI for Medical Engagement will lead our AI driven transformation journey and the end-to-end execution of AI driven solutions across multiple dimensions within medical affairs, with a focus on driving precise, impactful, and purposeful medical engagements via data driven medical strategy and fit-for-purpose applications of AI, data science, and advanced analytics for a superior experience for HCPs and positions JJIM with a sustained competitive advantage.

This role ensures that medical affairs needs are reflected in key analytical initiatives, while identifying scaling and standardization opportunities across TAs. They act as an advocate and champion for AI Products, presenting the value and insights delivered while also ensuring programs like Medical Engagement.AI are established as scalable and sustainable platforms that are responsive to the Medical Affairs needs.

Competencies:

  • Track record in implementation of AI driven initiatives within pharmaceutical industry, preferably within medical affairs

  • Hands - on experience using healthcare claims datasets, electronic health records, and lab data in real world evidence and patient analytics – preferably in patient unmet need and care / treatment gap identification

  • Knowledge of Data Science/AI/ML/Statistical programming using Real World Data (patient level Claims, SP, Social Determinants of Health, other).

  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills and demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department.

  • Ability to influence all levels of the organization and to engage across a broad range of business partners and functions.

  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques (e.g. supervised, unsupervised, deep learning) and their real-world advantages and drawbacks

  • Capable of interpreting the results of predictive models, evaluating model performance, and translating findings into actionable insights aligned with brand strategy.

  • Track record of strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Intellectual curiosity and passion to learn new things.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the DRI and overall business product owner all Pan-J&J NA IM advanced analytics and AI driven solutions for medical engagements.

  • Develop a credo-based company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and retention and development of top talent

  • Serve as a talent accelerator who will acquire, nurture and develop best in class data science and analytics talent for your team

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Medical affairs, Scientific affairs, Advanced Analytics, Data Science & Engineering, and IT, among others, to shape and evolve the medical omnichannel solution roadmap and enhance evidence generation & dissemination strategies.

  • Lead the partnership with HCC, privacy, and legal to ensure that compliance and appropriate patient confidentiality is at the core of all solutions.

  • Lead the team that identifies and quantifies the most critical patient unmet needs and develops / deploys AI driven tools and techniques to enhance the performance and speed-to-market of our medical focused solutions.

  • Lead the development of measurement framework and clear metrics to track execution and impact of the data driven precision engagements by the MSLs.

  • Lead the ongoing evaluation of data sets and methodologies to improve predictive capabilities across medical affairs.

  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders within medical affairs, scientific affairs, and brands.

Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant business experience in healthcare, analytics, data science, marketing, management consulting or related field is required.

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, master’s highly preferred.

Other:

  • This position is based in Titusville, NJ with consideration to be based in Horsham, PA and will require up to 15% domestic travel

  • The anticipated base pay range for this position is $157,000 to $271,400 USD.

  • The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
