Job Description:

As a Business Process Analyst, you will interact with key stakeholders in the Caterpillar O&G Gas business unit, third party data providers and internal data hosting partners to identify industry data sources, data interactions, methods and formulas to develop and implement an Oil & Gas Market Intelligence system. You will utilize the Oil & Gas Market Intelligence system to develop models and data visualizations to identify trends and recommend business outcomes for the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry as it applies to Caterpillars’ reciprocation engine power systems and services related business.

J ob duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Define relevant oil and gas external industry data and internal business metrics which are leading and lagging indicators for sales, orders and deliveries of Caterpillar equipment and services purchased or used by oil and gas OEMs and End Users

  • Identify best data sources and relationships to format the data into a single combined view of the industry.

  • Interact with data consumers and IT technical resources to develop business processes and data formatting to support the development of a data storage system, data processing and associated data reporting and visualization using enterprise platforms and tools to create the Oil & Gas Market Intelligence (OGMI) system

  • Author new use cases, perform testing and create training required to implement the OGMI. 

  • Partner with IT technical resources to investigate and resolve business process and system issues which supports maintenance and adoption of the OGMI.

  • Use the OGMI system to provide insight and analysis of industry trends and provide models, scenarios and outlooks to support business planning efforts. 

  • Make and prepare specific recommendations and reports by industry segment or region.

  • Independently lead normal to mid-range complexity projects to improve business processes, drive improved data gathering or system modifications, and deploy user centric reports and dashboards.

  • Handle dialogue and interactions with key stakeholders to drive adoption of data from the OGMI into business decision making processes such as forecasting, NPI programs, metrics reporting and demand planning.

  • Travel between 10%-20% of time

Basic Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree and 3-5 years of progressive experience.

  • Demonstrated ability in project management, data reporting, statistical analysis, interpersonal communication, and the desire to lead and drive change

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience in data management, coding, and visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI are preferred.  Experience in upstream or midstream oil and gas is a plus.
