Project Overview:

Bechtel Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business that serves the increasing demand of EPC services for customers in the semiconductor (manufacturing facilities and supply chain); electric vehicle (batteries, charging infrastructure, and production); synthetic materials; and data center markets.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Deputy Solutions & Development Manager (“Deputy”) to join our Manufacturing and Technology business. The Deputy will play a pivotal role in driving business growth, fostering customer relationships, and leading the development of comprehensive solutions that align with our clients' needs. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in Engineering, Construction, Business Development, Field Engineering, and Project Operations. The selected individual will work closely with the M&T Managers of Strategy and Business Development, as well as the Operations Manager, the Functional Managers and the sector General Managers to identify developmental opportunities and advance select prospects and key customer relationships.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Identify and develop new business prospects by leveraging your industry expertise and network. Collaborate with the business development team to identify potential opportunities and engage with clients at an early stage to understand their requirements.

  • Solution Development: Lead the development of innovative and customized solutions that address clients' challenges and requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create comprehensive project proposals that showcase Bechtel's capabilities and expertise.

  • Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers. Serve as a trusted advisor, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions that add value to their projects and operations.

  • People Development: Mentor and develop team members by sharing your extensive knowledge and experience. Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team to enhance their skills and capabilities.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with General Managers, Business Development, and other key stakeholders to align business strategies, ensure consistent messaging, and optimize the pursuit of new opportunities.

  • Project Operations: Apply your deep understanding of project operations to ensure that proposed solutions are not only innovative but also feasible and executable. Collaborate with project teams to ensure alignment between solution design and implementation.

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the business unit's strategic plans, leveraging your industry insights to identify potential areas for growth and expansion.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering or Finance required.

  • A minimum of 20 years of progressive industry experience, encompassing Engineering, Construction, Business Development, Field Engineering, and Project Operations.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep understanding of the project development lifecycle: from early engagement to shaping the deal, including study phases all the way through full execution.

  • Capable of demonstrating an understanding and experience in direct-hire EPC (cost-re, LSTK, etc.,) PMC, and delivery partner contracting models.

  • Proven track record of successful business development, client engagement, and solution development.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, inspire, and develop teams.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence at all levels.

  • Strategic mindset with the capability to analyze complex situations and drive innovative solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

  • Familiarity with project financing, tax equity involvement, government funding/stimulus, etc., is a plus

  • Capable of leading large multi-functional teams with a demonstrated ability to run a business (P&L experience).

  • Willingness to travel as required for client meetings, project assessments, and other business needs.
