37519BRReq No.:37519BRJob Description and Qualifications:Air Products (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Commercial Business Manager at our Houston, TX office.

This commercial position has accountability for the management of the Industrial Gases (IG) business associated with Bulk/Gaseous Hydrogen (BHY) and all Microbulk products (LOX/LIN/LAR/CO2) This role will develop and execute the strategic business initiatives and operating plans to deliver on profit targets and position Air Products for continued growth and profitable investment. This business leader will be a key member of the IG South Business Management team.

You will have responsibility for the P&Ls associated with Gaseous Hydrogen and all Microbulk products through effective asset management and play a key leadership role in assisting the region in reaching its goals related to profitability, productivity and growth. You will set the strategy for the product lines and achieve success by working closely with members of the commercial, tactical planning, logistics, operations, engineering, and corporate functional teams. Specifically, you will be involved in pricing strategy and execution, asset management and positioning, productivity initiatives, prioritization of commercial opportunities and supply chain execution.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • P&L management for IG South Bulk/Gaseous Hydrogen (BHY) and Microbulk (LOX/LIN/LAR/CO2) with the expectation to deliver on both near and long-term profitability targets

  • Business management activities including budget development, monthly and quarterly business performance reporting and forecasting, setting strategic direction for the business, motivating teams to deliver on productivity, and business critical initiatives

  • Develop, deploy and maintain a business strategy that can fulfill our long-term growth and profitability goals

  • Drive asset-level profitability by leading and influencing teams

  • Work closely with the pricing manager to set pricing strategy for the region

  • Work closely with sales to develop and deliver on targets related to new business signings and renewals with an emphasis on the quality of deals

  • Ensure proper management and compliance to the Americas Hydrogen Commercial review process (H2CR) for all South business, inclusive of new signings, contract term rolls, and renewals

  • Collaborating with operations, distribution & logistics to create a supply chain and asset base that can effectively support growth and cost objectives

  • Work closely with tactical planning and logistics to optimize supply-demand and overall system management

  • Close interaction with customer engineering on product line strategy and cost management efforts to include working on ideas to improve Maintenance & Freight cost improvements for the South Region

  • Provide for strategic growth initiatives to include new offerings development, which may include development of a spot job platform for Microbulk South Region

  • Lead initiatives that are required to achieve near and long-term goals to ensure continuing profitable growth of the businesses

  • Engage with the Hydrogen for Mobility (H2fM) commercial and operational teams to lead initiatives, projects, and opportunities associated with the South region’s involvement in the hydrogen mobility industry

  • Work across the Americas with other regions to coordinate optimal and efficient management of Bulk Hydrogen product, resources, and equipment

  • Participate in National Forums to leverage marketing strategies across regions.

  • Explore strategic partnerships to grow the South Microbulk Business

    Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required in a business/marketing or engineering field; MBA desired

  • Minimum 5+ years of prior experience in marketing, strategy development, asset management or related commercial experience; preferably with exposure to the industrial gases or related industry

  • Strong analytical skills with proven capability of database management and intelligence analysis with good business acumen

  • Good communication skills and strong influencing skills

  • Experience in technical service or applications development a plus.

  • Organized, project management skills, commercially \ financially savvy

  • Willing to take initiatives and work proactively across the organization

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a changing environment
