Job Summary:

In this role, you will prepare subsurface investigation plans for projects. You will assist in directing fieldwork and with developing geotechnical parameters. You will perform analyses, provide input to geotechnical engineering reports, present results, and communicate issues with the project team. Your collaboration will help ensure the coordination of work and compliance with project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard geotechnical engineering methods preparing specifications for subsurface investigations for new and existing facilities.

• Performs geotechnical analyses such as stability of soil and rock slopes, rock excavation and slope protection, bearing capacity and settlement of shallow foundations, lateral earth pressures, and axial and lateral pile capacities.

• Prepares geotechnical engineering reports and presents the results of the investigations and reports to members of the project team.

• Communicates geotechnical issues with the project team during the engineering design stage of the project.

• During the construction phase of projects, responsibilities may include overview of earthwork operations, monitoring of pile installation and load testing, inspection of critical foundation subgrade, and monitoring of ground improvement

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires an M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering with minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, or a Ph.D. degree in Geotechnical Engineering with minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of seismic-related issues and evaluation of liquefaction potential of soils.

• Familiar with computer applications such as Plaxis 2D and 3D, FLAC, LPILE, APILE, SHAFT, GROUP, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, GRLWEAP, CAPWAP, gINT, Settle3D, and DYNA6

• Ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities.
