Weyerhaeuser Operations Supervisor - 2nd Shift in Houston, Texas

The standard hours for this position will run during the second shift. Hours can vary and the shift ends after normal business hours.

This Second Shift Supervisor position is part of Weyerhaeuser's Distribution Business, reporting to the Operations Manager. This position provides leadership and supervision of the operations function (receiving, warehousing and distribution). The Operations Supervisor assists in leading the operations team; provides coaching, guidance, management and direction to the team in the world class distribution of building products.

Key Functions:This position works under the guidance of the Site Operations Manager.

  • Assists in leading a team of warehouse associates and forklift operators in safely and efficiently distributing building material products.
  • Provides strong leadership in safety, customer service, performance management, employee development and training, inventory management, and problem solving.
  • Assists in leading the safety effort - improves and reinforces the safety program and safety culture.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of the leadership team to continuously improve the operating procedures, provide superior customer service and excellent financial return to the company.
  • Works closely with the sales team to meet customer service expectations (e.g., scheduling order fulfillment and cost-effective delivery.)
  • Develops and maintain strong customer relationships; including sharing of safety and sales operations best practices with outside customers and vendors.
  • Also manages quality control measures and implements those measures when needed.

  • At least one year managing a team, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution setting
  • Ability to motivate, influence and encourage a diverse group with varied skill levels and backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships across multiple functions

  • Ability to effectively coach and develop a team-oriented, customer service driven operation

  • Associates degree or higher
  • Experience scheduling and managing ELP optimization and manual production order processes
  • Experience managing and scheduling work for ELP operations associates
  • Support analysis and identification of replenishment items (MIT’s)
  • Experience scheduling and managing outbound-inbound deliveries utilizing most cost effective carrier and route.
  • Experience ordering supplies using P-Cards and processing monthly statements.
  • Word document processing experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of effective inventory management and distribution practices desired
  • SAP or similar WMS (warehouse management system) experience a plus
  • Prior experience with building materials distribution
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of supply chain logistics processes, including demand planning, distribution
  • requirements planning, inventory management and control, transportation and logistics planning, and warehousing
  • Bilingual - Spanish a plus
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement practices (Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, etc.)
  • Upward mobility potential
  • Ability to move between businesses/functions in future assignments
  • Change Management experience
  • Experience in developing work standards and procedures (SOP, JSA, JSI, Policies, etc.)
  • Successful prior leadership experience in technical field

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $56,000 - $84,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
