Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Engineer - Multibody dynamics analysis at its facility located at 10203 Sam Houston Park Dr, Houston, TX 77064. Journey level position for engineering related functions. Build significant, deep expertise in one or multiple technical areas. Individual contributor level position. Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems. Perform complex analysis work, identify and resolve problems for Mining, Construction, and Off-highway Machine Structural Systems and Components. Participate in pre-test planning, on-machine testing, post-test analysis validation, design optimization, preparing technical presentation and reports, and mentoring & coaching. Focus on technical delivery. Work with different units, suppliers, customers, and/or other teams and begin enhancing general and business skills. Communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner. Decisions may significantly impact: product performance, durability, quality, reliability, and serviceability; leveraging new technologies; warranty; total cost of non-quality; costs; sales; and customer perception. Manage own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology. Key skills to be developed at this level are data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving, application of simulation tools and methods, and practical application of theory and concepts. REQS: This position requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering or a related field and 2 years of experience leading and supporting projects involving Finite Element Analysis, Design, Testing and Validation of Mining, Construction and Off-highway Heavy Structural Systems and Linkages or related occupation. In the alternative the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience leading and supporting projects involving Finite Element Analysis, Design, Testing and Validation of Mining, Construction and Off-highway Heavy Structural Systems and Linkages or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have 2 years of employment experience: (1) Building and analyzing Multibody dynamic and kinematic models in DYNASTY or MSC ADAMS or equivalent; (2) Building and analyzing Discrete Element models in ROCKS3D or EDEM or equivalent; (3) Performing on-machine stress and load analysis correlations; (4) Using modern data analysis techniques to develop load profiles for Mining, Construction and Off-highway Machine structural systems using data obtained from simulation, proving ground tests and field operations; (5) Pre-test planning, instrumentation, and post-test data processing using DATK or Simcenter Testlab or equivalent; (6) ABAQUS (Implicit/Explicit), NASTRAN, and HYPERMESH; (7) CREO; and (8) Python. Travel: 10% Domestic.

Summary Pay Range:

$147,181 - $165,840
