Project Overview:

Thacker Pass is critical to energy security in the United States. Situated on the largest known lithium deposit in the North America, the multi-billion-dollar mine and processing facilities will eventually produce more than 16 times the current U.S. yearly output of lithium.

The battery-quality lithium carbonate made at Thacker Pass will be enough to power 800,000 electric vehicles each year. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.

The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.

Thacker Pass is hiring. We will need a full spectrum of engineering, construction, project management, and business professionals plus support services to enable successful completion. During your off time, enjoy mountain air and abundant outdoor recreation in northern Nevada or Lake Tahoe; restaurants, shopping, and shows in Reno; or a little farther, northern California, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will help improve work processes by mapping work activities and systems, gathering and analyzing data, and participating in assessments. You will assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining quality management tools, aggregating performance data, and tracking effectiveness of corrective actions. Your work will help resolve and reduce the risk of work quality related issues.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for quality activities with some complexity or impact on a small project/function

• Participates in specific quality-related assignments

• Verifies adequate translation of requirements into products and services using applicable tools

• Coordinates targeted independent assessments to enable the timely mitigation of technical and project management risks

• Identifies risk by providing independent technical analysis, guidance, and recommendations to GBU/project leadership

• Applies quality engineering principles to design reviews, analyses, quality program plans, and other documentation

• Evaluates the effectiveness of corrective actions and process improvement activities

• Provides oversight of design verification/validation, in-process inspection, and final inspection activities

• Defines and implements quality management system tools and procedures to support work processes

• Develops and maintains quality metrics/goals for the organization and provides performance feedback

• May participate in the formulation and development of advanced quality engineering for proposal development

• Learns to use intermediate to complex causal analysis tools and leads apparent cause evaluations and root cause analysis to assist in the resolution of issues

• Monitors, or leads in monitoring, the implementation of the project quality program/plan such as People Based Quality (PBQ), Lessons Learned, Close Loop Corrective Actions, Assessments and Continuous Improvement

• Participates in, or leads in, quality audit activities covered by corporate/project quality program/plan including, pre-award assessments of potential suppliers and subcontractors as a prospective lead auditor or a qualified lead auditor

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level One: Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 3-5 years of relevant experience or 5-7 years of relevant work experience.

Level Two: Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-7 years of relevant experience or over 7 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrated experience working with quality management systems standards, in particular ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, with formal training and experience conducting audits of QMS systems. Lead ISO 9001 Auditor Certification is desired.

• Ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate training programs.

• Service based attitude and approach.

• Proficiency in several software applications like Power BI, Vizio and Microsoft Office Applications.

• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and technical database applications.
