Position Summary:
Demand Planning and Strategic Category Sourcing Develop enterprise analytics for aggregation of cross-business / project demand of critical commodity demand, providing data analytics and applied expertise in data visualization to contribute to enterprise strategic sourcing decisions. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets across all business units and respective projects, to expose valuable insight to the enterprise’s aggregated demand, coupled with market opportunity that will drive data-informed strategic sourcing decisions. The candidate will leverage their expertise in data visualization to create compelling visual representations of data that effectively communicate key observations and opportunity to stakeholders.
Provide materials planning expertise, advice, and direction for all project and enterprise materials-related work, to ensure optimal overall organizational effectiveness among Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Controls and Construction functions for the acquisition of equipment and materials. Participate in establishing materials-related execution governance and development and implementation of data integration processes and monitor project execution for the effectiveness of materials-related work processes over the project life cycle.
Responsibilities:
Gather and consolidate data from various sources, ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and integrity. Clean and preprocess data to remove inconsistencies and prepare it for analysis.
Apply statistical techniques and data mining methods to analyze large and complex datasets. Identify patterns, trends, and correlations to extract meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
Utilize expertise in data visualization tools and techniques to create visually appealing and interactive dashboards, reports, and infographics. Present complex data in a manner that can be interpreted by cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring effective communication.
Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations that highlight key findings, patterns / trends, and recommendations derived from data analysis. Present observations to the respective organization / project teams, providing clear explanations and strategic recommendation, and be prepared to answer questions to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to obtain data and collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements to provide the analytical support they require.
Participate in development of early project execution strategy development as it relates to analysis of enterprise-wide aggregated materials requirements, strategic sourcing, and materials execution planning.
Contribute to project Integrated Materials Management Programs, and monitor its execution across Engineering, Supply Chain, and Construction.
Coordinate project plans and data accessibility in terms of identifying major equipment and bulk materials with Engineering and coordinate the information and data that is required to be exported from Engineering automation tools to downstream Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Control systems for enterprise, business unit, and project demand planning.
Prepare reports identifying market/shop capacity restrained and/or productivity-impacted materials-related work issues need to make strategic sourcing decisions.
Prepare commodity-specific cross-functional reports communicating acquisition progress against aggregated demand and market/shop capacity utilization proactively, through leading indicator analytics, identify issues and alternative solutions requiring attention or escalation.
Monitor Supply Chain reports and activities by effectively monitoring materials release, deliveries, and other key milestones to ensure that acquisition and fabrication activities remain aligned with analytical forecasts, and communicate alternate strategies, as required, as work unfolds against the plan.
Prepare look-ahead reports to projects demonstrating capacity utilization and certainty surrounding timely materials execution/delivery, including proactively bringing forth potential issues impacting planned execution.
Supervision Received:
- Receives operational direction from Corporate Supply Chain Integrated Materials Manager with an interface to the Category Manager and respective Category Management Teams.
Job Knowledge:
Proven experience in data analytics, aggregate demand planning and forecasting, preferably in industry setting.
Strong proficiency in statistical concepts, data visualization tools, and data analysis techniques to make informed judgements and recommendations.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to senior management and project execution teams.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Ability to deal with ambiguous information and data but be able to apply attention to detail/patterns/trends that create substantiated results and a high degree of confidence in the analysis.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of the project material flow process and execution steps involved in the phases of advance planning, defining requirements, and sourcing, delivering, and controlling goods.
Knowledge of design Engineering disciplines work processes and deliverables produced, including the general functionality of the tools used to produce such deliverables and data.
Knowledge of Supply Chain operations, disciplines, work processes from planning and acquisition of goods through aspects of material control at construction sites.
Experience with, or awareness of, enterprise materials management automation systems
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or post-graduate degree, in Supply Chain Management, Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field is preferred.
Minimum 10 years’ experience working on major capital construction projects, enterprise data analytics in a multi-project/business unit environment
Having worked on a major project construction jobsite in the field of supply chain / materials management is an asset.
