In Precision Strike & Sensing Solutions, we design and manufacture state-of-the-art systems and technology that enable our customers to execute their precision strike missions.
BAE Systems, a provider of some of the world's most advanced, technology-led defense, aerospace, and security systems is seeking a highly motivated and highly experienced Software Engineering Discipline Lead to deliver exceptional leadership over the software life-cycle for the Precision Strike business area.
This engineering leader is responsible for all software activities within Precision Strike engineering and will directly oversee the teams within Precision Guidance Seeker Solutions (PGSS) and Navigation Sensing Solutions (NSS). The right candidate will have the experience and background to be an immediate impact player. The candidate must have in-depth domain knowledge and the ability to build strong customer affinity both internal and external. The candidate should be knowledge in modern software development techniques and be familiar with both Agile and DevSecOps developments. The candidate should be an innovative self-starter capable of creating and communicating a strategic vision for the software organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinates and manages software engineering activities to comply with cost, schedule and technical requirements and established engineering practices to meet program commitments
Provides leadership review and approval of software bid activity
Oversees software managers and drives collaboration and engineering efficiency
Establishes and maintains a software roadmap (to include AI adoption) to align to future program needs
Reviews and monitors engineering metrics on programs in the portfolio and provides technical support to program management
Ensures skill development and anticipates future software needs
Interfaces with project leadership to ensure programs are adequately sourced and executed within cost and budget
Identifies and coordinates the necessary equipment and facility resources required to successfully execute engineering activities
Creates and presents executive-level internal and external briefings.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Active DoD Secret clearance
Bachelor s Degree in Science, Engineering or Math with 12 years experience
Demonstrated engineering lead on complex, multi-year DoD pursuits and programs with total value exceeding $50M development
Extensive experience with project planning and execution including staffing, scheduling, and cost tracking
Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional/organizational teams
Experience leading software and/or systems engineering teams through the development and verification stages of the program.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
MS Degree in Science, Engineering or Math
Experience with GPS and/or munition guidance or seeker technologies
Deep understanding of missile or munition seeker related technologies (RF and EOIR), CONOPS, and future plans with demonstrated ability in building collaborative cross-functional teams
Experience developing software architectures to meet open system requirements
Experience utilizing AI and or ML to aide in software development and test.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $164000 - $278800
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
