Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Senior Accounting Manager (SBS- Payroll and Timekeeping) based at our Defense Headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Senior Manager, Financial Applications performs professional assignments where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Success in this role requires business engagement skills with the ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and influence outcomes in a cross-functional matrix organization. Qualified candidates must possess the ability to translate abstract concepts into defined objectives and the proven ability to drive for results.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

60% - Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing. Senior Manager will be responsible for performing high-level payroll activities while maintaining operational efficiency within the payroll Department, responsible and accountable for payroll operations, payroll business processes, compliance, and vendor and stakeholder management. This role will ensure systems and internal controls support US payroll, employment taxes and all applicable labor laws and regulations. Senior Manager serves as Subject Matter Expert for the OTL Timekeeping (Oracle OTL) and Payroll software (ADP EV5/6) software platforms.

20% - Payroll and Timekeeping audit liaison for all internal and external auditing groups. Develop, maintain, and regularly assess internal controls for payroll processes and related payroll software systems. Ensure internal controls and SOX narratives and controls are correct and comprehensive. Ensure compliance to SOC-1 audit control objectives relating to our service providers.

10% - Develops policies and procedures for Payroll and Timekeeping and advises management.

10% - At Payroll level, coordinate all test planning, execution, and documentation related to business system upgrades and/or patching. Senior Manager serves as Liaison with SBS, IT and Release Mgmt. to support the company’s Business Requests process and compliance. Ensure successful organizational change management, including the training and support of end users throughout implementation and post go-live.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and fourteen (14) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and control the activities of the assigned organization. US Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or other status as a U.S. person required. Previous Supervisor/manager experience required. Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and control the activities of the assigned organization. Knowledge of Payroll and experience in large, multi-state company, ADP Payroll software, and finance is required.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. U.S. Citizenship, Permanent Resident, or other status as a U.S.Person is required.

Desired Qualifications :

  • CPP preferred

  • 9+ years of Payroll and Timekeeping experience required with at least 3 years leading teams.

  • Knowledge of Relevant governmental legal compliance, payroll systems, reporting and best practices.

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, team building, and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be self-motivated and a self-starter, providing updated and relevant information proactively.

  • Must be a skilled communicator, with well-developed verbal, written and presentation ability.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness.

  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations containing concepts and information in a manner easily understood by culturally diverse groups.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

  • Prior experience in Oracle is highly desirable.

  • Must be able to travel to multiple locations

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in this position must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. This job may require the ability to travel by air or auto. This position may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
