Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision has an opening for a Medical Information Specialist, Medical Affairs located in Irvine, CA. We are seeking a motivated and very hardworking individual who is a self-starter and is passionate about medical information and crafting communication on the latest developments to the scientific community. This role dynamically engages both internal groups and external key opinion leaders (KOLs) to bring real world insights to product development. You will gain a deep understanding of the product pipeline while creating important content that will improve eye healthcare. Respond to requests for scientific literature from HCPs and internal team members.
Coordinate and complete weekly publication briefs.
Monitor and disposition the Medical Information Request system to ensure all requests are addressed in a timely manner. Address case creation and delegation of cases to Subject Matter Experts (SME).
Create performance reports, metrics, and system reports surrounding Medical Information inquiries.
Maintain group SharePoint site and dashboard to provide the organization with a medical literature and resource database. Update and add new metrics, verify copyright clearance permissions, and source information, and ensure appropriate access for internal collaborators.
Create/develop metrics, reports, summaries, and collateral materials generated from medical conferences/congresses.
Maintain an in-depth understanding and strong knowledge of Johnson & Johnson Vision products with an emphasis on implants.
Provide project support/vendor management: submission of statement of work (SOW), invoices, purchase requisitions, etc. for third-party vendors.
Coordinate support activities related to Advisory Boards owned and managed by Global Medical Affairs.
Develop regulatory compliant processes, including SOP, work instructions and other documents as needed and provide medical inquiry process training to internal collaborators as needed.
Support Medical Director activities as needed (Promotional material review, Medical Monitor activities, Clinical Trial/R&D Support, Compendia, and other literature summary creation, etc.).
Attend and cover external medical conferences and staff Medical Information booth as needed.
Provide support for other Ad Hoc projects, as needed
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required
Advanced Scientific Degree (OD, DO, MD, Ph.D., PharmD) or certification (COT/COA) in ophthalmology is strongly preferred
Minimum 4 years of work experience
Minimum 2 years of clinical work experience
Proven experience in a customer facing role
Real World Evidence experience is highly desirable
Industry experience desirable
Solid knowledge of eye diseases, ophthalmologic surgical procedures and technologies is desired
Expected travel up to 25%
Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and associated hardware is required. Experience with Windows and cloud-based applications (Veeva, Salesforce) is preferred.
Ability to conduct medical/scientific literature online searches, along with developing Medical Information Request (MIR) case documentation is required.
