The successful candidate would use multidisciplinary engineering and supply chain knowledge to assist in the execution of multi-functional projects in support of the company’s strategies, goals, objectives and product portfolio. Uses knowledge of scientific techniques and process excellence to design, develop and validate safe, effective and efficient processes. Provides technical support to ensure continuity of supply.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports with minimal guidance the execution of Life Cycle Management projects in a cross-functional setting.

  • Supports with minimal guidance predetermined long-range goals.

  • Applies broad scientific and engineering knowledge to the development and improvement of medical device products, associated processes, and manufacturing equipment as well as associated validations.

  • Ability to use and apply standard principles, theories and concepts in their field.

  • A working knowledge of other related disciplines is also desired.

  • Works with minimal guidance in cross-functional teams (both internal and external) to determine root cause, develop mitigations and corrective and preventative actions for processes and manufacturing related issues.

  • Exercises judgment with minimal guidance within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Evaluates with minimal guidance manufacturing processes / products and collaborates with R&D, NPI, Sourcing, QA, MFG and Finance teams to lead projects / initiatives to improve quality, productivity and reduce costs.

  • Utilizes with minimal guidance the application of six sigma and lean tools and methodologies.

  • Provides technical training and guidance to manufacturing and engineering personnel.

  • Ensures quality conduct of projects including design, data summary and interpretation, report and manuscript preparation and review compliance to applicable regulations.

  • Generates written protocols and reports to related projects.

  • Maintains accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, processes, test methods, data analysis and conclusions or rationales.

  • With minimal guidance, provides technical support to outside suppliers, vendors, and/or consultants as required, inclusive of supplier visits and identification / implementation of process improvements.

  • With minimal guidance, works on proposals and cost estimates of project/process related costs or cost improvements.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field required.

  • An advanced degree in preferred.

  • Medical device industry experience is required.

  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 Design Control, and manufacturing process IQ, OQ, PQ. qualifications as related to medical devices is preferred.

  • Six Sigma Process Excellence knowledge is preferred.

  • Knowledge of financial accounting and analysis methods to assess product standard costs, project values, and capital requirements is preferred.

  • Experience in managing technical relationships with external suppliers and OEMs is preferred.

  • Project management skills are preferred (Microsoft Project, FPX and/or other project management tools).

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks is required

  • Supplier development skills are preferred

  • Strong communication, team building, and cross-functional coordination skills is preferred.

  • This position is in Irvine, CA

Other:

  • This position will require up to 10% travel.

  • The anticipated base pay range for this position is $76,000 – $121,900

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

  • Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
