WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Associate Director– Global Income Tax Accounting is responsible for U.S. GAAP income tax accounting including review of effective tax rate, quarterly/annual footnote disclosures, SOX income tax accounting controls and processes, account reconciliations & journal entries, uncertain income tax reporting, and income tax accounting processes related to U.S. state income taxes, tax effects of stock based compensation, income taxes paid, deferred tax balance sheet support and realizability of deferred tax assets.

Location:

This role is primarily based in Dallas, TX; however open to considering other Caterpillar facilities within the United States.

Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Maintain the highest-level integrity of financial statements and reporting related to income taxes, maintaining a strong internal control environment.

  • Liaises with external auditors on quarterly reviews and yearly audit of income taxes.

  • Acts as global process owner for uncertain tax positions reporting including application of ASC 740 to tax analysis provided by Global Tax team

  • Supports and consults on income tax accounting matters on acquisitions/divestitures and new guidance.

  • Works closely with Global Tax and Treasury on various initiatives and projects which may have income tax accounting implications.

  • Reviews U.S. deferred and current income tax provisions and return to provision analysis including validation of deferred tax balances and reconciliations.

  • Reviews and analyzes income tax accounting associated with stock-based compensation, cash taxes paid, balance sheet fluctuations, and non-U.S. effective tax rates.

  • Documents ASC 740 considerations of realizability of deferred tax assets.

  • Participates or actively leads special projects or analysis of income tax accounting matters such as valuation allowances, restructuring, income tax accounting processes, controls, etc.

  • Coaches and develops income tax accounting professionals within the company.

WHAT YOU HAVE – Skills and Experiences :

  • This position requires a strong background in income taxes and U.S. GAAP with specific focus on income tax accounting guidance in ASC 740.

  • Knowledge of SOX controls and processes is also essential.Experience with auditing or consulting for tax provisions of large, global manufacturing or other relevant large, global companies is also desired.

  • Strong analytical skills are required to perform detailed analysis and resolve issues.

  • 10 – 15 or more years of progressively responsible job-related experience are typically required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific action.

Preferred Skills:

  • It is strongly preferred that the incumbent has credentialed expertise (CPA) and solid practical experience involving ASC 740 technical accounting and US GAAP reporting issues.
