The Opportunity

Our location in Irving, TX currently has an opportunity for a Cost Manufacturing Accounting Supervisor position. This individual will support the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, focusing on reporting requirements, internal control, and communication for manufacturing operations abroad. Additionally, this role will oversee strategic business initiatives geared towards ensuring site success, economic profitability, and financial compliance.

What You’ll Work On

  • Product Cost Accounting and the establishment of annual manufacturing standard costs for Instrument Production in the US and China.

  • Collaborate on the development of key standard cost of production components such as Direct Labor Rates, Activity-Capacity overhead rates, Excess Capacity calculations, utilization absorption tracking, Material Burden overhead, and bill-of-material maintenance.

  • Maintain proper financial reporting to all appropriate areas to give visibility into monthly Division financials.

  • Support FP&A Manager to consolidate global manufacturing and explain variances to forecasts spanning $90MM in spending, 500 employees, $500MM in COGS, and $300MM in inventory.

  • Develop and direct Plans and Updates for business programs to assess reasonableness and achievability of forecast. Key elements include personnel and capital requirements.

  • Ensure any financial exposures in operations are identified and accounted for in a timely manner by maintaining monthly reconciliation of general ledger, perpetual inventory, and fixed assets, as well as monitoring funding and activity in inventory exposure reserves.

  • Provide monthly reporting of financial results for local & foreign affiliate manufacturing against latest benchmark, keeping operating management appraised of areas potentially requiring corrective action.

  • Provide financial counsel in evaluating business strategies / alternatives - e. g., make vs buy, cost / benefit of refurb activities, financial analysis for RCE's.

  • Support the development of finance team members on site, as well as, the foreign affiliates, on cost manufacturing accounting leading to accurate reporting and data integrity.

  • Maintain identification of internal control needs and develop sufficient improvements to ensure no audit points. Assure proper internal controls are developed for new processes.

  • Review / revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) used to document / train others on steps necessary to complete financial analyses explaining manufacturing results.

  • Assist in collection of financial data to fulfill internal / external audit requests and maintain effective internal control and compliance with Abbott CFM’s, GAAP, and SOX.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

  • 7 years of accounting background

  • Cost Manufacturing Accounting experience setting product standards

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle ERP and SAP GL

  • CPA is plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong aptitude / attention to detail / Debit-Credit T-Accounting

  • Independent initiative, anticipatory mindset, and problem-solving skills

The base pay for this position is $85,300.00 – $170,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
