Caterpillar is seeking an Executive Office Senior Communicator to provide strategic communications counsel and support for the Energy & Transportation business segment. Reporting to the Head of Executive Communications and directly supporting the Group President for Caterpillar Energy & Transportation, you will be a vital member of the Enterprise Communications team. In this role you will manage an integrated team to collaborate on the enterprise’s efforts globally through strategic, integrated communications. You must act as a trusted advisor within the Energy & Transportation team on a wide range of messaging that directly impacts our reputation.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and manage the Energy & Transportation team’s communications needs, building and leading communications planning and strategies that drive content creation

  • Define a structured communications program by prioritizing needs, and creating and developing themes, formats, media and timetables for major programs and presentations

  • Exhibit exceptional initiative and communications leadership across the corporation while working in close collaboration with key team members and business partners

  • Collaborate with internal and external editorial teams, the global communications community, and subject matter experts on promotion, content capture and storytelling. Serve as the communication focal point and deliver communications to employees across the enterprise

  • Provide quality and value that optimally facilitates employee communications and supports the development, marketing and promotion of the communications

  • Advance E&T messaging by promoting story ideas, preparing briefing materials and drafting press releases and media statements as needed

  • Act as an advisor or consultant to senior management on communications

  • Perform other related communications duties as assigned

What You Have:

  • Planning: Expert level knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while paying close attention to details

  • Communicating Complex Concepts : Expert level knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience. Hands-on experience developing and executing a strategic communication plan reflective of the core business objectives and leveraging multiple communication channels to reach desired audiences, including social media, media and customer events

  • Influencing : Expert level knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. Demonstrates an enterprise mindset when working through a matrixed organization. Proven ability to lead outside vendors and internal business partners

  • Interpersonal Relationships : Extensive knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive, diplomatic and collaborative manner. Establishes and maintains credibility with clients and teammates throughout various levels of an organization

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience leading a team

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field

  • Previous experience in corporate communications, agency leadership, or both

Summary Pay Range:

$156,000.00 - $234,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
