Our location in Irving, TX, currently has an opportunity for Principal Systems Integration Specialist, Systems Engineering.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Principal Systems Integration Specialist Lead applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to ensure successful Instrument integration activities across Instrument development organizations such as Hardware, Software, Assay, Commodities and Global Service. The System Test Project Engineering lead defines and monitors system test metrics, monitors Technical Performance Measures (TPM), reports metrics status and identifies and monitors corrective and preventative actions. Defines and maintains Integration Strategy and plans by collaborating with Program Management, Systems Engineering and Software Engineering. Guides development and analysis of Integrated System Test Organization affordability initiatives and opportunities. Develops Integrated System Test Organization metrics for test activities (System Integration, Verification and Validation) and Lab Operations (System Integration and EMC/Safety). Collaborates with Program Manager, System Engineers and Software domain leads to define Systems Integration Points (SIPs) appropriate for project scope, complexity and identified project risks.

Responsibilities

  • Defines and Maintains Integration Strategy and Plan and supports Integration activities and coordinates System Integration testing across Cross Functional Teams

  • Coordinates System Integration Testing of Hardware, Software, Assays and Commodities of instrument

  • Leads development of systems integration test methods/ processes and troubleshooting instrument (hardware / software) and assay / reagent interaction issues to determine root cause and possible solutions. Resolves complex system-level problems.

  • Oversees and guides the development of systems integration test methods/ processes and troubleshooting instrument and assay/reagent interaction issues to determine root cause and possible solutions.

  • Leads and reviews projects, timelines, and tasks; recommends resource estimates for project plans, timelines and impact of project scope changes. Monitors organizational expenses and assists with budget planning.

  • Assists with assessment of team skill sets vs. integration tasks to ensure alignment of domain knowledge to integration activities

  • Tracks integration metrics and regularly communicates progress and design maturity to leadership and upper management

  • Guides the definition of critical performance requirements that link to system design requirements across interacting functions. Guides significant operational, process or system level product improvements. Conceptualizes, designs, and leads activities driven by strategic business needs.

  • Ensures issues are thoroughly documented and communicated to respective design teams and elevates risks to program management

  • Provides input into developing departmental and site processes and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree and 7 years of experience

Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Systems, Software, Computer) or related Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited college or university.

  • 10+ years’ relevant experience in Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline.

  • Recognized experience leading complex system and risk analysis

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and utilize data to make decisions and influence stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.

  • Demonstrated Customer Focus, making their needs a primary focus of one's actions.

  • Demonstrated Experience with Systems Engineering, System Integration, Program or Project Management principles and concepts.

  • Experience with project planning and Cost Account Management

  • Demonstrated with System, Software or Lab Configuration Management and tools

  • Ability to work independently and lead a team of junior engineers

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience implementing various product and process improvement methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing)

  • Experience in understanding and complying with applicable regulations.

  • Knowledge of Good Lab Practice and/or Good Manufacturing Practice with the ability to apply them to assigned task or activity.

Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Technical Leadership or Management Experience

  • Experience with Alinity instrument, assay and/or commodity development principles and concepts.

  • Expert knowledge of Systems and / or Assay development principles and concepts.

  • Experience with Requirement analysis and decomposition and Risk Management

  • Experience working with hands customer interaction

  • Prior medical device experience: electro-mechanical, chemical, or biochemical technologies as they pertain to the design, integration, evaluation and commercialization of diagnostic systems.
