Caterpillar’s Rental & Used (R&U) division is hiring a Sales & P roduct Support C onsultant for Heavy Rents ! This role is responsible for providing product and application support to the global field Heavy Rents Territory Managers and Caterpillar dealers to assist in prime product and work tool sales execution. This position will also provide support to the Global Construction & Infrastructure New Product Introduction (NPI) Managers during various NPI phases in terms of Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Voice of Rental on specs, configs, customer requirements, and competition.

What You'll Do (Job Duties)

Support Sales Execution : Provide product and application expertise to the global field sales representative team and dealers to support prime product and work tools sales execution, price realization, and improved value proposition.

  • Act as thesubject matter expert of product application knowledge for certain groups of CAT models; considered a key field “go-to resource”

  • Provide analytic support and guidance on the profitability of dealer heavy rents by product mix, sales model, configurations (support field teams and rental leaders)

  • Support equipment sizing and application recommendations to assist in reduced Owned & Operated costs and improved machine performance

  • Provide reports on competitive performance studies, feature/benefit comparisons and maintenance and repair cost analysis

  • Manage Regional Sales Variance budgets serving as the main liaison between Pricing/Merchandising team and Rental Region Managers; Help support and execute sales variance programs, and coordinate monthly rental sales variance metrics reporting

Liaison with Product Groups : Provide input to Excavator, Earthmoving, Paving, and Load & Haul Product Groups and NPI teams for next generation NPI product development activities. 

  • Collection and communication of VOC and development of Critical Customer Requirements (CCR) input to NPI teams and Marketing staff 

  • Provide analytic support and guidance on the profitability of dealer heavy rents by product mix, sales model, configurations (support product groups to identify areas of opportunity)

  • Support definition and value placed on new product features, functional and technical specifications, and general product requirements

  • Provide Product Group with industry-specific trends based on customers’ operational data and benchmarking

  • Responsibilities include work in the development of product requirements for emerging markets.

  • Support monitor readiness and attend NPI gateway reviews as needed

  • Other duties or Ad Hoc requests as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other programs used to review and prepare data and pull insights

  • Experience withmerchandising programs and Sales Variance, mechanized claims processing, service data systems and/or dealer operations

  • Experience and/or knowledge of dealer operations & rental profitability

  • Ability to understandand articulate technical machine performance and application knowledge

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar Construction products & machine performance

  • Bachelor’s degree and progressively responsible job-related experience

Additional Details

  • Work Locations: Dallas, TX; Peoria, IL; or Cary, NC

  • The R&U division operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring 3 days per week of onsite, in-office work

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available

  • 25% travel domestic and international

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
