The Senior Business Architect enables business success through engagement of business stakeholders and partnership with Construction Industries IT Engagement Managers to deliver effective strategic planning and targeted technical innovation. As a steward of Construction Industries capabilities and Caterpillar IT solution definition / delivery, the Senior Business Architect works closely with business leaders to envision, define and align Construction Industries initiatives that deliver the greatest customer value and support Caterpillar IT technology objectives. A bridge between Caterpillar Construction Industries and Caterpillar IT

This savvy leader will be expected to form valuable relationships and enable business value to Construction Industries business unit, while operating as a key member of the Caterpillar IT organization.

Job Summary

This exciting role actively operates / leads at the nexus of business value and technology optimization, partnering with Construction Industries IT Engagement Managers (Divisional CIOs) as well as a new Portfolio Leader to cohesively provide value across these key functions:

  • Technology Strategy Leadership : Drive tangible business value through definition of technology solution strategies that enable business / IT strategy & objectives.

  • Solution Leadership : Define and deliver cohesive technology solutions, informed architectures, market-leading data strategy and active technology leadership to achieve strategic business objectives.

  • Talent Leadership & Communications : Provide cross-functional / cross-organizational IT leadership to actively enable the business and proactively solve business challenges.

  • Operations Leadership : Protect the brand and operational stability / health through active facility / site-level IT leadership.

What Y ou W ill D o :

As the CI-IT Senior Business Architect, you'll lead the definition, design, and execution oversight of Construction Industries technology roadmap. You will collaborate closely with CI-IT Engagement Manager, Portfolio Leader and peers across Caterpillar IT to ensure that our systems are architected in alignment with business needs and best-fit technology architectures. Your role will involve active participation in critical business initiatives, providing expert input / recommendations on technology solution / approach / architecture. You will provide input for Portfolio Leader delivery oversight and alignment with CI-IT and Caterpillar IT security, compliance and governance organizations. In doing so, you will enable CI-IT to balance short-term needs with long-term technology transformation considerations. The breadth of your responsibilities will include:

  • Cohesive Strategy / Roadmaps : Develop and implement the IT architecture strategy, roadmap, and standards in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.

  • Collaborative Engagement : Collaborate with business leaders, and technical teams to define, design, build and maintain a business-relevant technology roadmap to continually deliver IT solutions that meet evolving business requirements.

  • Applied Innovation : Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and platforms to identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and cost optimization.

  • Value Delivery : Partner with IT Engagement Managers (Divisional CIOs), as well as fellow Caterpillar IT architects, providing strategic leadership and tangible technology guidance to achieve business objectives.

What Y ou H ave :

  • Business Acumen : High degree of comfort engaging business and technology stakeholders in the definition, design and delivery of business concepts, tools, and processes; ability to make sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Organizational Change Mgmt : Knowledge / application of techniques to successfully effect change in an organization and ability to manage the successful and smooth transition from current to desired culture, practices, structure, and overall organizational environment.

  • Emerging Technologies : High degree of experience in application of emerging technologies; ability to design, apply and evaluate new information technologies for business environments.

  • Enterprise Architecture (EA) : Proven skills of enterprise architecture; ability to develop, communicate and control methods and models for business processes, information systems and infrastructure.

  • Technologies: ERPs, especially SAP and S4/HANA; Digital manufacturing systems including SAP ME; Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions including SAP Teamcenter; Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) solutions; Integration technologies; Snowflake; PowerBI

  • The primary locations for this position is Dallas TX

  • This position may require 10% travel.

  • Sponsorship is not approved.

  • Travel: This role provides strategic architectural support of Construction Industries, including corporate and globally-disperse manufacturing sites. As such, travel to key facilities will be expected to both quickly learn the business and the periodically, especially as strategic / transformation projects become priorities in our multi-year roadmap. Initial travel may include several global locations and then moderate to 3-6 trips per year.
