Job Summary

As a Senior Strategy Manager for Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division (EPD), you’ll have the opportunity to grow the electric power business through mid to long-term development and execution of innovative commercial strategies and integrated customer offerings to create more valuable energy outcomes for customers.

This position reports to the Senior Strategy Director for the Electric Power Division. It requires forward-thinking, influencing skills and a passion for developing and applying our strengths in new ways and in new markets to meet the changing needs of the energy economy. It relies on growth mindset, customer focus and the ability to champion and drive change.

The role requires a strong external focus for development of market research and partnerships with technology providers, as well an ability to identify and analyze potential inorganic growth opportunities in adjacent and transformational growth areas. Collaboration with internal business partners is key, focused on expanding our strengths, creating more valuable outcomes for our customers, and profitably growing our business.

What You Will Do:

  • Assess the market including competitive issues, market dynamics, market service needs and the company position in the industry

  • Evaluate market analyses and develop market opportunity valuations for assigned growth opportunities

  • Develop profit models for growth opportunity using Caterpillar standard decision-making models

  • Develop external contacts and relationships with market participants, potential customers, partners and suppliers.

  • Develop and implement growth strategies including evaluation of potential partners, implementation of branding strategies, and execution of growth opportunities

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with business partners across the organization and outside consultants to gain industry trends and propose ideas for business growth

  • Plan and direct projects critical to department and the enterprise

Shares experiences regarding optimal timing and circumstances for refraining from or making decisions.

  • Expert Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment. Develops data analysis risk-reduction strategies. Predicts the directions and trends of data gathering and analysis in the market.
